Kedu Town is located in the northwest of Pingtang County, Qiannan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province, 76 kilometers away from the county seat. It borders Tongzhou Town and Mouse Farm Township in Pingtang County in the east, Dongjia Town in Luodian County in the south, Qingshui District in Tangbian Town in Pingtang County in the west and Tang Xian Township in Huishui County in the north. The town governs 8 administrative villages, namely Venus, Jinshan, Guangming, Luo Liang, Jinke, Longhang, Qianjin and Advanced. It is home to the largest radio telescope (FAST) in the world.

Kedu Town is located between mountains and hills, with relatively backward infrastructure construction such as transportation, water conservancy and basic farmland, and relatively simple economic structure. The grain output is low and unstable, the development of agricultural industrialization has just started, and the leading industry has not yet formed. The popularization rate of new agricultural technology is not high, and the economic source mainly depends on the income from farming and migrant workers. At present, 6 of the 8 administrative villages in the project area have piped water, and 2 villages have no piped water. The safety of drinking water has not been solved; The per capita net income of farmers is 3630 yuan, slightly higher than the county average. The low-income poor population is 82 17, accounting for 36.2% of the town's agricultural population.
