That incident changed me

One afternoon in August, the weather was warm, and a group of children were working very hard to catch those colorful butterflies. I couldn't help but think of my childhood. Something happened. I was only 12 years old at the time, and I often caught wild animals and put them in cages. But after that incident, my interest was completely wiped out.

My home is on the edge of a forest. Every time the sun sets and dusk, flocks of American thrushes come to the forest to rest and sing. The singing is so beautiful that no human musical instrument can play it so beautifully. The tune comes.

I made a prompt decision and determined to capture a little thrush and put it in my cage so that it could sing for me alone. Sure enough, I succeeded. At first it flapped its wings and fluttered around the cage, very frightened, but then it calmed down and accepted its new home. I stood in front of the cage and listened to the beautiful singing of my little musician. I felt extremely happy. It was a blessing from heaven. The day after I put the bird's cage in my backyard, its loving mother flew to the cage with food in her mouth, and the thrush mother came to feed its babies for me. It seemed like it was a happy thing for everyone.

The next morning on the third day, I went to see what my little captive was doing, and found him lying silently and dead on the bottom of the cage. I was puzzled by this. I didn’t know what was going on. Wasn’t my little bird already well taken care of?

So I went to school and asked my biology teacher what I had done with the little poor bird. The terrible misfortune was told to her. After hearing this, she explained: "When a female American thrush finds her child imprisoned, she must feed the little thrush poisonous berries that can kill her. She seems to believe that it is better for the child to die than to die. It’s better to live as a prisoner.”

That incident changed me from then on. I will never capture any animals again, because every creature has a pursuit of free life, and this pursuit is undoubtedly worthy of recognition.
