On the contrary, you can check in directly after the guide takes your passport, and you will feel better when you are on vacation.

Another reason may be that the tour guide is afraid of you running a group. Then they are in big trouble. There are enough people to take out and not enough people to bring back. If they have to go back to China when it is due, some people will not be so law-abiding. They will want to go abroad and stay for a few more days, but when the date comes, they will choose to sneak away, which will bring great trouble to the tour guide because of their selfishness and tarnish the reputation of the motherland. So the tour guide will choose to put it away.
