In my opinion, the influencing factors are:

1: climatic conditions, including sunshine hours, temperature and precipitation. Ancient agriculture depended on the weather to a great extent, and it still depends on the climate. Under different climatic conditions, the land use patterns and crop types are quite different, such as the big pattern of wheat in the north and rice in the south of China.

2. The conditions of the soil itself are black soil in the north, saline-alkali in the coastal areas of North China and red soil in the south of the Yangtze River, so the crops suitable for growth vary greatly from place to place.

3. Human factors, before the Song Dynasty in ancient China, the economic level in the north was better than that in the south of the Yangtze River, and the mode of production was more advanced. Since the rebellion of the Eight Kings in the Western Jin Dynasty, a large number of people from the north began to move into the south of the Yangtze River, bringing advanced labor tools and farming methods, which affected the land use mode in the south.

4. After the ruling class, especially the ethnic minorities entered the Central Plains, nomadic civilization was promoted. Destroying fertile land and enclosing pasture have also changed the land use mode to some extent.
