The origin of Shanxi ethnic minorities
The southern Xiongnu is concentrated in the south-central part of Shanxi. Cao Cao divided them into five parts: left, right, south, north and middle. The left half lives in Fenyang, the right half in the southeast of Qixian, the south half in Xixian, the north half in Xinzhou and the middle half in Wenshui. The ministries are commanded by Xiongnu nobles and supervised by Sima Han officials. During the Western Jin Dynasty, a large number of Huns moved inside the Great Wall, with a total number of more than 300,000. The Jie nationality moved to Shanxi with the Huns and concentrated in Shangdang Wuxiang (now north of Yushe), which is called "Xiongnu Biebu". Xianbei people are concentrated in Daixian and Datong.
The ethnic groups who moved in lived with the Han nationality for a long time and gradually merged with the Han nationality.
