What does the internal affairs department do?

The Ministry of the Interior of the Central People's Government is in charge of civil affairs, under the leadership of the State Council of the Central People's Government and under the guidance of the Political and Legal Committee of the State Council.

Office: responsible for issuing ministerial orders, keeping seals, sending and receiving documents, managing books and materials, preparing for meetings, supervising the implementation of resolutions, liaising with the work of various departments, and working with people, finances and materials in this department.

Cadre department: in charge of the appointment, removal and adjustment of local administrative personnel handled by the department, civil servants, registration, statistics, education and training and employee welfare of administrative personnel at all levels.

Civil affairs department: in charge of the construction of local people's political power, the establishment of local administrative organs, the division and adjustment of administrative regions, the determination of place names and administrative offices, the collection and compilation of maps, the survey and exploration of borders, the review of land and water maps, the management of household registration and nationality, etc. Ministry of Social Affairs: in charge of social welfare, rehabilitation of the homeless, registration of social and religious organizations, public burial cemeteries, people's praise, immigration and social relief.

Land Bureau: responsible for rural land reform, land clearing, registration and issuance of land certificates, urban real estate policy, urban construction planning evaluation, public real estate protection and other land management affairs.

Special care office: responsible for the preferential treatment and pension of martyrs' families, military families (referring to the families of revolutionary workers) and disabled revolutionary soldiers, the resettlement of retired workers, the praise and mourning of martyrs, the compilation of biographies of martyrs, the collection and preservation of deeds and cultural relics, the construction, management and protection of martyrs' monuments and outstanding military families.
