Brief introduction of Hongze Lake Wetland Nature Reserve

Hongze Lake Wetland Provincial Nature Reserve was established in 1999 with the approval of the Standing Committee of Sihong County People's Congress in Suqian City, and crossed the river in 200 1 year.

The People's Government of Jiangsu Province approved the establishment of Hongze Lake Provincial Nature Reserve in Sihong, Jiangsu Province, and established a reserve management committee and management office for standardized management. The area of the reserve has been continuously expanded, with the core area 16663 hectares, buffer area 17579 hectares and experimental area 15 123 hectares, occupying 65,400 hectares of inland freshwater wetlands in China. In 2006, it was awarded the National Wetland Nature Reserve. At present, the tidal flat in the water area of the reserve is vast, the ecosystem is well preserved, and the biological species are rich, including phytoplankton 165 species, aquatic higher plants 8 1 species, zooplankton 9 1 species, zoobenthos 76 species, fish 67 species and birds 194 species. The birds protected at the national level are bustard and bustard.

Fishing or bird catching is not allowed here. Boating in the wetland, cool breeze blowing gently, relaxed and happy, looking far and wide, sparkling, driving in the swaying reeds, from time to time starting egrets and flying far away, as described in the ancient poem "Autumn water * * * sky is one color". Liu Changhua, deputy director of Sihong County Environmental Protection Bureau, said that this season is a good time for reeds to grow and fly. However, due to the flood season this summer, the water level in the wetland rose, and the reeds in the wetland basically died after being submerged for a long time. So now all we can see is the yellow reed roots, and birds are much less because of the flood. In the coming year, reeds will grow again and all kinds of birds will return to wetlands again.

The reserve was built in Sihong County, Suqian City, Jiangsu Province, and the surrounding towns involved Shuanggou Town, Chengtou Town and lin huai zhen, with a total population of 87 149. The employed population in sanxiang town is 1790, accounting for about 2% of the total population. Among them, there are no employees in Shuanggou Town, 255 employees in Chengtou Town and 1.535 employees in Linhuai Town.

Environmental experts believe that Hongze Lake Wetland is a rare "kidney of the earth" with high scientific, ecological, social and economic values. China Biodiversity Conservation Action Plan describes Hongze Lake wetland in this way: bird protection in nature reserves not only plays an important role in China, but also enjoys a certain reputation in the world. Plants, fish, birds, etc. The nature reserve not only has many varieties and a large number, but also forms an independent and complete three-dimensional ecological chain system, which is the most valuable "natural species gene bank" around Hongze Lake. The integrity and systematicness of Hongze Lake wetland ecological chain are precious.

There are natural aquaculture and aquaculture in the nature reserve, with an aquaculture area of 620 hectares, accounting for only 4.36% of the water area of the reserve and 0.39% of the whole water area of Hongze Lake, which has little impact on the whole reserve and Hongze Lake. In 2003, the gross domestic product of the three towns involved was 473 million yuan, but their share in nature reserves was only 2.4%, and they did not depend on nature reserves. Among them, Shuanggou Town has neither a fishery production base nor other industries in the nature reserve. The breeding area of Chengtou Township in the reserve is 4,800 mu, accounting for 6.5% of the total cultivated land and breeding area of the township. The cultivated land area of Linhuai Town in the reserve is 4,500 mu, accounting for 6.9% of the total cultivated land and cultivated land in the township. The management department of nature reserves attaches great importance to community construction and actively implements resettlement projects. Local residents also understand and support the construction and development of nature reserves, and the community relationship is very good. At present, the main scenic spots in the reserve are: Lotus Variety Science and Technology Demonstration Park, Water Lotus Pond, Bird Lotus Growth Area and Shili Lotus Sightseeing Belt.
