I applied for a US F1 visa and was rejected once. How can I make an appointment for the second time?
I think there is nothing wrong with making an appointment. It mainly depends on whether you can pass the second time. My visa has not been rejected, so I can’t give you my 2nd visa experience, but you should pay attention to why you were rejected at that time, prepare the information carefully, prepare answers to many questions, etc.
If you make an appointment, Old rules
Reservation phone number:
4008-872-333 (only domestic calls can be made, no long-distance charges, no need to dial the area code.)
Telephone service The center's working hours are:
Monday to Friday: 7:00 am - 7:00 pm, Saturday: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
STEP 1 Pay the reservation fee:
Charging standard: 54 yuan, can be used for 12 minutes. The "12 minutes" here refers to the manual service time, which is the time spent talking to the service lady. Generally speaking, after making an appointment for a person's visa, there will be some time left. Within 12 minutes, you can also make visa appointments for multiple people, and you can also consult, provided they process it quickly enough. If you don’t use up the 12 minutes at one time, you can still use it the next time. If the 12 minutes are used up and you still want to continue consultation, you can only pay 54 yuan for another 12 minutes. Automated services do not count towards these 12 minutes.
The notice from the U.S. Embassy said: "In addition to paying with prepaid encrypted phone cards, callers can still continue to use credit cards and debit cards to pay."
If you To pay with "prepaid encrypted phone card", "credit card" or "debit card", you need to first register at www.usavisainformation.com.cn (the education network requires an agent connection) according to the prompts, enter your card number and password, and get the reservation password After that, call to make an appointment (this online system may be unstable, according to netizens).
All bank cards, credit cards, and debit cards across the country (must have the UnionPay logo and do not require online services), credit cards, and debit cards can be used. I don't know much about the specific situation, but it doesn't matter, their system will detect it, and if it doesn't work, just change the card. You can also go directly to CITIC Bank to buy a "prepaid encrypted phone card" for 54 yuan. Foreign currency credit cards are also accepted.
STEP 2 Preparation before calling:
Personal information: Chinese name, name pinyin, birthday, ID number, passport number, contact number, visa type.
Pen and paper: used to record payment password and reservation number.
STEP 3 Visa appointment process:
1. After dialing, the Chinese and English messages will be played in turn, "Welcome to call the Visa Information Service Center of the U.S. Embassy and Consulate General in China..." After the Chinese and English broadcasts are played once, the Chinese and English prompts you: "Select the language type below.". Then use the corresponding languages.
2. Then "To seek U.S. citizen services, please press 1. Please wait for the next step." Wait 5 seconds without pressing the button. (If you choose 1, it will take several minutes to talk about the services provided by embassies and consulates to American citizens)
3. Next, "To inquire about information about U.S. immigration, please press 1 to inquire about information about traveling to the United States. Please press 2” – press 2.
(Attachment: If you press 1 to listen to the recording, the following options will appear: 1. U.S. citizens assist relatives and friends in China to apply for visas to the United States; 2. List of visa-free countries for traveling to the United States; 3. Addresses of the U.S. Embassy and Consulates and where you should choose to apply for a visa; 4. Visa application procedures and CITIC Industrial Bank contact information; 5. Information required to apply for a non-immigrant visa; 6. Conditions for applying for a visa through CITIC Industrial Bank; 7. Visa refusal Reapply after; 8. Emergency; 9. Other services)
After pressing 2, the system will prompt "This service is a user payment service, and the fee is RMB 54 for 12 minutes." There are five Options:
"If you have paid by money order and now want the service to take effect, please press 1. If you have purchased a CITIC Industrial Bank PIN prepaid card, please press 2. If you have purchased a PIN online Please press 3. If you have already used this service and now want to use up the remaining minutes, please press 4. If you want to know the payment method, please press 5”
If you press 5, the system will prompt three Option: Press 1 to pay with credit card, (there are a lot of words about the last two options, I can’t remember clearly, it should be various payment operations, please listen to yourselves)...Some people on the Internet said that the procedure is like this of: "Enter the card number, press 1 to confirm, enter the validity period, press 1 to confirm, it will prompt that 54 yuan will be charged, the deduction is successful, and the 14-digit password will be played." Anyway, after you finally get the password, the payment is successful! This password must be remembered (you can listen to it more than once). It is used for making appointments and consultations. You can make multiple calls as long as the total does not exceed 12 minutes.
The next step is to enter the password to enter the queuing system. "If you want to listen to the recorded information, please press 1, to fax the information to you, please press 2, and to contact the customer service representative, please press 0." If you want to make a visa appointment directly , just press 0 to connect to the customer service representative. After you press 0, you will enter the queuing system and wait for an available customer service representative. (The prompts will be read in Chinese and English, and then the music will be played).
At this time, the system will tell you that the average waiting time is 4-5 minutes, and billing begins when the customer service representative is connected. After many verifications, if you don't have the patience to hang up the phone at this time, one minute will be deducted from your time.
——The number arrangement of the buttons in each step often changes, so just press the buttons according to the prompts.
4. After connecting to the manual service, the service lady will ask you your Chinese name, name pinyin, visa location, whether you have been rejected before (at this time you have to say you have been rejected once), and which category Visa (continue F1), passport number, ID number, contact information, birthday. When you make an appointment, you will be told the time of your visa, the month, the day and the time. Finally, you will be given an "appointment number". This number is 12 digits, followed by a checksum between the number and the checkdigit. There is a horizontal bar. Remember this number (the lady will repeat all the information). Also, you can ask her for an earlier or later entry time. You can choose the visa date within the range they provide. If the number has not been assigned for the date you want to make an appointment, then you can only call again another day.
5. If you have made an appointment but cannot go to get a visa due to something unexpected, please call 3 days in advance to cancel the appointment. Before the new appointment system was launched, if you had something to do and you couldn't go to get a visa on the day, you just didn't have to go. You didn't need to call to cancel - even if you called, the people at the embassy would ignore you, and their service attitude was very poor. Although the new system allows you to cancel reservations, since there is no special notice on the embassy's website, it is probably feasible to not go there on the same day without saying hello. But just to be on the safe side, it’s better to call and cancel the appointment.
6. Reservations in Shanghai are divided into two types: "with barcode" and "without barcode", and the dates are different (generally speaking, the "with barcode" ones are earlier). If you make an appointment with someone with a barcode, you should use the online DS-156 form (with a barcode) when applying for a visa. If you make an appointment with "no barcode", you can use the online DS-156 form (with barcode) or the ordinary DS-156 form when applying for a visa.
(Now it has become DS160. The main thing is that the details have increased, and there are no other changes)
I am not an agent and have not signed the certificate, so it is just my personal experience. I wish you success
