Why America?

In the first part, the economic prosperity of the United States benefits from the theories of the following four economists and applies them to practice with pragmatic thinking. First, Adam Smith's invisible hand, through market self-regulation, professional division of labor and strict restrictions on the role of the government. The core is self-interest, which can constitute merit. Second, Keynes's government intervention created demand and solved depression and unemployment. Third, Hayek's free market theory opposes all government intervention. Fourth, Schumpeter's entrepreneurial society regards ideological and technological innovation as the driving force of the economy, which is the real entrepreneurial spirit.

The second part, the ideological resources of the United States come from Europe, especially the Puritan origin of Britain: most Americans have three characteristics derived from Puritan culture: 1) the craftsman spirit of doing it yourself; 2) The collectivism spirit of sharing weal and woe and helping each other in the same boat; 3) Unswervingly optimistic about the future of society.

The third part is continuous and gradual improvement. The United States experienced two major crises in the 20th century, one was the Great Depression in the early 1930s, and the other was the social crisis and belief crisis in the 1960s.

Correspondingly, it is a reflection on the economic crisis and Roosevelt's New Deal, as well as the radical student movement, civil rights movement, civil rights legislation and great social plan of the Kennedy and Johnson administrations in the 1960s.
