If one parent has German nationality, their children will also acquire German nationality. For children born out of wedlock, if the mother is German, the children are German; If only the father has German nationality, German nationality can only be obtained after confirming the blood relationship between father and son or father and daughter. This confirmation must be made before the child is 23 years old.

Foreign children born in Germany can automatically acquire German nationality if one of their parents has lived in Germany for more than eight years and has held the right of permanent residence (Aufenthalt erechtigung) or indefinite residence (U efritte auf enthaltserlauis) for more than three years.

2. The principle of choosing nationality

3. Simplify naturalization procedures.

Naturalization is an important way to acquire German nationality. Applicants who meet the following conditions may apply for naturalization:
