The origin and history of Fang surname
1, after Emperor Yan. According to ancient records, Emperor Yan had a descendant named Lei, who was sealed in Fangshan (near Ye County, Henan Province). His descendants are half surnamed Fang and half surnamed Lei, and they are a family. In the past, Lei Fang didn't get married, which is based on.
2. From Ji's surname. Ji was a minister, pacified southern Hubei, made great contributions to ZTE, and was sealed in Luo. His descendants later took Fang as their surname, which is the subject of Fang's surname.
3. Still from Ji surname, but separated from Weng surname. This branch was separated very late, although it came back late, but it has strong vitality and fertility. In the early Song Dynasty, there was a man named Weng in Quanzhou, a descendant of Ji, who gave birth to six sons, all of whom won the Jinshi.
This is rare in the world. Interestingly, although these six brothers are a family, they have six surnames. You know, in the tradition of China, people regard their surnames as more important than their own lives, and a gentleman must never change his name. What about six brothers with different surnames? It turns out that this is also forced by the status quo.
Before the establishment of the Northern Song Dynasty, Weng Tuo mainly lived in Fujian. At that time, the political situation was turbulent, and he might be wiped out by the slightest carelessness. To be on the safe side, Master Weng changed the surnames of five of his six sons, namely Hong, Jiang, Fang, Gong and Wang, and the remaining son was surnamed Weng. Unexpectedly, after the establishment of the Northern Song Dynasty, all the six sons actually won the Jinshi, known as the "six parties".
In addition, there are Fang surnames in Manchu, Mongolian, Dai, Hui, Tujia, Korean and Gaoshan today.
In the pre-Qin period, Fang's main activities were in Henan, but he was not active all the time. It is said that the Fang surname in South Korea was moved from Henan in the pre-Qin period.
At the end of the Western Han Dynasty, Fang moved to northern Anhui and began to develop and form a large family. During the Tang Dynasty, Fang's surname had spread to the Central Plains, East China and South China. Fang's surname has always been centered on the Central Plains and immigrated to the South many times. Fang's surname was recorded in Hainan, Guangdong and Fujian in the Tang Dynasty.
In the Song Dynasty, Fang surnames were mainly concentrated in Fujian, Anhui and Zhejiang, forming a gathering place of Fujian, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Anhui and Hunan surnames throughout the country. During the Song and Ming Dynasties, the number of candidates from the Fang family in Putian, Fujian Province was unprecedented. There are more than 360 Chinese scholars and judges, including Jinshi 132. In the Song Dynasty alone, there were 28 pairs of father and son Jinshi and 26 pairs of brothers Jinshi, which was really remarkable.
During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Fang's reputation reached its peak as a poet represented by Fang's family in Tongcheng, Anhui. Tongcheng Fangjia not only formed a profound study of Tongcheng Fangjia, but also created Tongcheng School, which dominated the literary world of Qing Dynasty for more than 200 years. Tongcheng style has since been regarded as authentic.
Zhu Yizun, a famous scholar in the Qing Dynasty, said: "The prosperity of square doors lies in ten thousand people. Southeast scholars push it as a sign. " Scholars in the southeast all take Tongcheng Fangjia as the flag and are the leading figures. Mr. Liang Shiqiu once said: "The Fangjia in Tongcheng is perhaps second only to the Kongjia in Qufu."
Contemporary scholars say: "Tongcheng Fangjia is the family that has the greatest influence on China culture after Qufu Kongshi, and it is the swan song of China cultural family." Therefore, it is not surprising that the Fang family in Tongcheng is regarded as the second largest cultural family in China in the book "Cultural Family that has influenced China for a hundred years".
