Happiness, please start with caring for the river.

Wang Yongchen

(Green Home Volunteer)

Everywhere I go, I always ask a question: "Now the river in your hometown is the same as when I was a child. Please raise your hand." There are basically no hands, and one or two of them live in the mountains; If I say, "When I was a child, the river was clear and flowed naturally. Now if it is dry, dirty and gone, please raise your hand." Then all your hands are up.

As the initiator of Green Home Volunteers, a non-governmental organization in China, I, a female journalist with more than 2 years' experience in environmental protection, have my own unique feelings about the word happiness. "I think happiness is the people around me, my friends, including my interviewees. Everyone is happy. This is my happiness." "When one cancer villages appears on the edge of one big river, it is the happiness of the local people to make these rivers the most basic living conditions and health."

I think happiness can be divided into different levels. Since the establishment of Green Home, I have set my aim on going into nature, knowing nature and making friends with nature. In 1998, when I came back from an interview with the source of the Yangtze River, I began to focus on the rivers in China. In 2, I founded the salon for environmental journalists, hoping that more journalists would pay attention to nature and the environment. In 23, after paying attention to the dam construction of Mugecuo and Dujiangyan at the foot of Gongga Mountain to Nujiang River, the main activities of Green Home are all related to rivers-ten-year trip to the river, ten-year trip to the Yellow River, and happy water trip ... I think water is indispensable in our life. If there is no healthy water area, how can there be a healthy society? Therefore, Green Home now focuses most of its energy on the natural flow of rivers, because the problems of rivers in China are too great. It seems to me that it is possible for more people to pay attention to the river around them and the river in their hometown.

without a healthy river basin, there will be no healthy society.

In Beijing, we will have a water trip every Saturday, hoping that the citizens of Beijing will pay attention to the rivers in their hometown with us. On the last weekend of February, it snowed heavily in Beijing, and nearly 3 of us visited the Wanquan River next to Peking University and Tsinghua University. Now it is a dry river.

That weekend, after walking the Wanquan River, I took this question out and asked the volunteers who participated in the Happy Water Tour. The reason for doing this is to arouse people's thinking by showing the problems of the river, and also hope that participants will return to their hometown, look at the river different from the hour and think about what they can do. I think everyone cares about the river in their hometown and does what they can to change the present situation of the river in their hometown. As for how to deal with the relationship between man and nature and enhance our sense of happiness, I value public participation in environmental protection. It is all people in society who take action and participate in the action of protecting nature. This is what I think is a higher level of happiness.

Go into nature, learn the nature of nature, be sincere without affectation. When it comes to the nature of nature, I think it is necessary to mention the integrity of being a man. In this regard, I would like to share with you a short story that I experienced personally: I was in Angkor Wat in Cambodia, and we made an appointment with a driver of a small jumping car to shoot the sunset and come back at 8 o'clock, but we were so happy that we went back for a whole hour. On the way, we were worried that the driver would leave, but when we saw him, he was full of joy. He didn't mention anything about adding money, but said, "I know you will come back late because it's so beautiful. You will definitely shoot more." At that time, I felt really happy. In such a poor country, the mutual trust between people is almost a luxury in our society full of competition and desire.

Everyone can live in a kind of nature and still keep its original appearance. Paying attention to this kind of nature has become everyone's nature. When people get along with each other, they can be as sincere and unpretentious as nature, and they are trusted with integrity, which is another level of happiness.

After more than p>2 years' interview experience, what puzzles me more and more is that I went to the source of the Yellow River. Although it is poor, there are beautiful sunsets, beaches, wetlands and all kinds of wild animals, and people are so sincere that the local people always drag you home to have tea and eat Ciba. I often wonder why in our life today, many poor places are so beautiful and many rich places are so ugly; Why do people's lives become richer and richer after the Yellow River reaches the lower reaches, but the environment is getting worse and worse, and people's hearts are becoming more and more unpredictable?

So I've been wondering whether we can keep the beauty of nature, but also the sincerity of people in nature and the dependence and trust between people. This is the highest level of understanding of happiness in my heart-everyone learns from nature, and interpersonal communication can reach the realm of sincerity.

Of course, in my opinion, the government also bears a very important responsibility in promoting social happiness. For the government, it is information disclosure and public participation. For example, the compensation for river migrants, the development of a place, everyone's interests are in it, we should negotiate, and all stakeholders have a say. This is the foundation and beginning of the government's good governance to achieve people's happiness in living and working.

and the key is whether the government can really implement the measures to improve people's livelihood and promote happiness. If the government only regards happiness as a propaganda direction, I think it is actually a kind of sadness.
