Nagano Island, located in Yaeyama Islands, Ryukyu Islands, is more than 300 kilometers away from Ryukyu Island and only 1 10 kilometers away from Taiwan Province Province in southern Australia. It is said that when visibility is excellent, you can see the mountains of Taiwan Province Province Island on Nagano Island. It is about 12km long from east to west, 4km long from north to south and 27.4km long from coastline, with an area of 28.8km2, of which the area of forest and wasteland is16.74km2. Everything starts with history. Nagano Island was a part of Kyushu Island during the Ice Age, bordering Kyushu Island. 15 10 merged into the ancient Ryukyu kingdom and became a colony of Ryukyu. The ancient Ryukyu Kingdom established a long-term tributary relationship with China. Because of its special geographical position, Ryukyu Kingdom is famous as a transit point for trade in Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia, with developed trade and important strategic position. And Nagano Island is a hub connecting Malay immigrants, so it is also very valuable. 1609, Satsuma, located at the southernmost tip of Kyushu, Japan, invaded Ryukyu and lost the territory of Amami Islands. So Ryukyu had to pay tribute to China, as well as Japanese Samoan and Edo shogunate.

After the Meiji Restoration, Japan sent troops to occupy the Ryukyu Islands, and Nagano Island was also annexed by Japan. 1872, Japan forced the king of Ryukyu Kingdom to be a vassal, and Ryukyu was abolished seven years later. 1879 Ryukyu Island was merged into Kagoshima Prefecture in March and Okinawa Prefecture in the following month. Japan has placed the other islands except Amami Island under the jurisdiction of Okinawa Prefecture, while Amami Island is under the jurisdiction of Kagoshima Prefecture. 1877 to 1880, the Qing government made representations to Japan, but the weak countries had no diplomacy, and Japan ignored the Qing government.

Some people say that since Nagano Island is under the jurisdiction of Japan, why don't islanders buy materials from the mainland? Because the transportation is extremely inconvenient, it is far less economical to buy from Taiwan Province Province. The islanders also sent their children to Taiwan Province Province for education, and many middle school students and college students on that island graduated from schools in Taiwan Province Province. In addition, communication and television with the residents of the island are signal services provided by Taiwan Province Province. Nagano Island is far from the main Japanese island, and it is close to Taiwan Province Province both geographically and economically, so the islanders came up with the idea of "investing in Taiwan Province Province".

In order to join our country, the islanders of this country issued a declaration of "self-reliance and autonomy" in 2005, and proposed a "special border exchange zone" to develop economic and trade relations with Taiwan Province Province, such as issuing SAR passports, issuing currency with Hualien, and conceiving a disaster mutual assistance agreement. Later, the island residents put forward several "independence" propositions. However, these proposals were opposed by Japan.
