Regional division of Nanyang dialect

Due to geographical environment, politics, history and other factors, there are certain differences in Nanyang dialect, especially in pronunciation and vocabulary. At present, Nanyang 13 counties and cities can be divided into three dialect areas according to their dialect characteristics, namely, eastern area, western area and central area. This area is centered on Neixiang. The central area mainly includes Wancheng, Wolong, Fangcheng, Sheqi, Nanzhao, Xinye, Tanghe West, Zhenping and Dengzhou East. This area is dominated by plains, bordering Hubei in the south, with an area of about10.5 million square kilometers and a population of about 7 million. This area is centered on Nanyang city. The language differences in the above three aspects are mainly manifested in language and vocabulary.
