In order to do a good job in the resettlement work in Danjiangkou reservoir area and ensure the smooth progress of the project construction, the state and the province where the reservoir area is located have comprehensively promoted the construction of new immigrant villages through pilot planning, immigrant participation, preferential policies and assistance, ensuring the smooth transition of the production and life of the relocated immigrants and the stability of the economic and social order in the resettlement areas of the reservoir area. Because of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project, the hometown of immigrants along the route has become "other places", but they can no longer "eat" by water. Today, some immigrants still cherish the Hanjiang River water and hometown brought from their hometown.
