Shi Ye manor travel guide
When it comes to traditional houses, I believe that many people first think of the Qiao Family Courtyard or the Wang Family Courtyard in Shanxi.
But in fact, there are many ancient manors in Henan, such as the first manors in China, Kang Million Manor, Ma Shi Manor, the once famous Zhang Hu Manor, and Ye's Manor, which is known as the "Little Forbidden City in the Central Plains".
I believe many people are familiar with Kang Million Manor and Ma Shi Manor, and now they have become popular tourist destinations. Zhang Hu Manor also attracts many tourists, because it is a national key red education base.
Only Ye's manor is unknown to many people because of undeveloped or insufficient publicity. Although it has been open to the public free of charge (and it is the only attraction among the four manor attractions that does not charge tickets), few tourists go.
Ye's Manor, founded in the Kangxi period of Qing Dynasty, is located in Dengcheng Town, a Millennium ancient town in Shangshui County, Zhoukou City, Henan Province. It is one of the best-preserved and largest folk manors in China in Qing Dynasty.
According to the information published in the courtyard of Yip's Manor:
Ye's family, the owner of Ye's manor, immigrated from Hongtong County, Shanxi Province to Dengcheng, Shangshui County in the early Qing Dynasty. They used to be businessmen who opened restaurants, but later they became the richest people in the area because of water transportation.
At that time, in order to show his identity, the Ye family began to build a large-scale project, which lasted for more than half a century and cost more than one million yuan. Yip's manor complex, covering an area of 20,000 square meters and mainly consisting of three courtyards, was built.
Its three main buildings are typical hard mountain quadrangles in China. The whole manor is grand in scale, rigorous and reasonable in layout, and has a sense of "five steps on the first floor and ten steps on the first floor".
In addition, in terms of architectural art, unlike other landlords' manors, Ye's manor has the same architectural layout as the Forbidden City, and it is also a treasure in the decorative art treasure house of the Qing Dynasty residential buildings in the hinterland of the Central Plains, so Ye's manor is also known as the "Small Forbidden City in the Central Plains".
Unfortunately, however, due to the influence of environmental factors such as war and the destruction of capitalism, Ye's manor was destroyed in 7788, and only one of the three courtyards of the house was retained.
Fortunately, there are 17 tile houses in this courtyard, which have been well preserved so far. Through different house structures, fine cornices and exquisite brick carvings on the town ridges, we can get a glimpse of the glory of the Ye family.
