Visa B 1 is issued to applicants who go to the United States for short-term business activities, including signing contracts through negotiation, attending exhibitions or conferences, short-term training or negotiating business with suppliers or customers. B2 visas are issued to applicants who travel to the United States, including sightseeing, visiting relatives and friends and medical treatment. Holders of B 1 and B2 visas cannot work in the United States.
Applicants for B 1 and B2 visas must be able to prove that (1) their intention is only to enter the United States temporarily; (2) Its purpose is only tourism and/or short-term business activities; (3) The applicant is unwilling to give up his property in China.
According to American immigration law, the applicant is obliged to prove to the visa officer that he meets the requirements for obtaining a B 1/B2 visa. All B 1/B2 visa applicants should make preparations in advance so as to present the following materials and any other supporting materials related to visa application during the interview:
Valid Passport: B 1/B2 The passport of the visa applicant must be valid for at least six months longer than the expected time for the applicant to leave the United States. If you expect that your passport will be valid for less than six months when you leave the United States, or your passport is damaged, or there is no blank visa issuance page on your passport, please apply for a new passport before coming for an interview.

Evidence that can explain why you will definitely return to China: produce documents that are binding on you in economic, social, family or other aspects to help you prove that you intend to return to China after a short stay in the United States. Due to different personal circumstances, the evidence that the applicant should produce is also different. The following documents can help the visa officer to evaluate whether you intend to return to China: household registration book, ID card, employment certificate, payroll that objectively reflects your monthly income, passbook with regular entry and exit records, etc.
Invitation letter: If you are invited to visit American residents, it will be helpful to provide the following information for your application: the information of the inviter, the purpose of your visit to the United States, and the pre-arranged travel schedule. If you just travel to the United States, you don't need to show an invitation letter.
If you go to the United States for business activities, please consider bringing the following information to the interview: where you will visit, who you will meet, what will be discussed during the meeting, and what products you plan to buy in the United States. The following documents may be helpful to the application: a detailed invitation letter issued by the American partner stating the purpose of the applicant's visit to the United States; Contracts or other agreements signed with American partners; Information about machines, software or other equipment tested or purchased in the United States, such as product manuals or catalogues.
If you go to visit relatives in the United States, you should provide materials to prove that you have a real and uninterrupted kinship with the inviter, and also consider providing their status after entering or immigrating to the United States. The following documents may be helpful to your application: household registration book or other documents that can prove true kinship, photos taken with American relatives in recent years, copies of American passports or green cards of relatives, copies of passports of relatives who have stayed in the United States for a short time, and copies of American visas. If your last stay in the United States exceeds the date specified on the I-94 card at the time of entry, please show the original extension certificate approved by the US Department of Homeland Security during the interview.
