What is a floating population?

Floating population is a concept under China's household registration system, which refers to people who leave their household registration to live in other places, but there is no clear, accurate and unified definition at present. Internationally, similar groups are called "domestic immigrants;

Floating population enjoys the following family planning services, rewards and preferential treatment in their current residence:

1, free to participate in the popularization activities of legal knowledge and reproductive health knowledge related to population and family planning;

2. Get contraceptives free of charge according to law and enjoy family planning technical services for other basic projects stipulated by the state;

3. Those who marry late and have children late or carry out family planning operations at their current place of residence are entitled to leave in accordance with the regulations of the province, autonomous region, municipality directly under the Central Government or larger city where they live;

4, the implementation of family planning, in accordance with the provisions of the province, autonomous region, municipality directly under the central government or a larger city where the floating population now lives, get support and preferential treatment in production and operation, and enjoy priority in social relief.
