Brief introduction of international organization for migration

At the initiative of Belgium and the United States,19511February 5th, an "international conference on migration" was held in Brussels, which decided to establish the European Intergovernmental Committee on Migration (ICEM). The Articles of Association of the Organization came into being in 1953, came into force in 1954, was registered in the United Nations Secretariat in 1955, and was incorporated into the United Nations Treaty Collection. 1980, the organization changed its name to "Intergovernmental Committee on Migration". 1May 1987, the organization revised the Articles of Association, and the new Articles of Association came into effect on June1989165438+1October 14. According to the new regulations, the organization changed its current name to "International Organization for Migration (IOM)". As of May 20 12, there are 146 members and 13 observer countries.
