Do household registration and student status have to be the same?

Household registration and student status must be consistent.

Household registration, also known as hukou, refers to the legal documents made by the administrative organs responsible for household registration management to record and retain the basic information of the registered population. It is also the identification of each of our citizens.

Student status refers to a kind of legal status or qualification that a student belongs to a certain school, and the household register for registering the student's name refers to the qualification as a student of a certain school.

According to Article 5 of the Measures for the Administration of Student Status of Primary and Secondary School Students, the student registration number is generated on the basis of the student's resident ID number, with one person and one number, which will remain unchanged for life. The specific rules for the generation of student numbers shall be formulated separately by the administrative department of education of the State Council. The generation of student status is based on personal basic information and is recorded in the household registration book. When we enter the information of student status, we also do it according to the contents of the account.

Moreover, the priority of counterpart enrollment in public junior high schools is the consistency of people and households. The simple understanding is that the child's household registration/residence and student status should be consistent. However, if the primary school is inconsistent with the original household registration due to factors such as moving and boarding grandparents' homes. , it is also possible to study across districts/school districts. This situation belongs to the separation of people and households. If the enrollment of the same family has reached the enrollment quota of junior high school, separated children may have to make overall plans.
