Introduction to Reed Flute Cave
As for the pictures, you can search them one by one. Generally, these people will not publish them specifically. They have exposed how to attract tourists and how to make a living. However, recently a new cave has been opened in Reed Flute Cave. Okay, memorize it slowly and regularly.
Reed Flute Cave is located on the bank of Taohua River in the northwest of Guilin City, on the south side of Guangming Mountain. There was a kind of reed grass growing at the entrance of the cave. Legend has it that it can be made into a flute and produce a pleasant sound, hence the name Reed Flute Cave. The formation of Reed Flute Cave has gone through a long period of time. It was originally an ancient underground lake 100,000 years ago. Due to the uplift of mountains due to crustal movement, the underground water level dropped; the underground lake turned into a cave. Later, groundwater formed by rainwater flowed along the many broken zones in the mountain, dissolving the calcium carbonate in the rocks and turning it into a solution containing carbonate and calcium ions. When groundwater flows from the cracks in the rocks into the cave, carbon dioxide overflows; calcium ions precipitate and crystallize, and after years of accumulation, stalactites in various shapes are formed. People praise Reed Flute Cave as a natural palace of art.
As far back as the Tang Dynasty more than 1,000 years ago, people visited Reed Flute Cave. Many ancient people’s ink marks were left on the stone walls of Reed Flute Cave, but it has not been developed in the past dynasties. Reed Flute Cave began surveying and construction in 1959. It was officially opened to tourists in 1962. Since its opening, Reed Flute Cave has received party and state leaders such as Deng Xiaoping, Li Peng, Zhu Rongji, and Li Ruihuan. More than 80 heads of state and government, including former U.S. presidents Nixon and Carter; and former United Nations Secretary-General de Cuellar, have also come to visit.
The Reed Flute Cave is 240 meters deep, 93 meters wide at its widest point, and 18 meters high at its maximum. The tour distance is about 500 meters and the tour time is about 40 minutes.
1. Shiling Morning Glow
What is shown in front of us is a magnificent picture composed of many stalactites: tall peaks, dense forests, and thousand-year-old trees that cover the sky with thick shade. Whenever the sun rises, groups of lions dance happily in the forest facing the rising sun, filling the entire forest with vigorous vitality. Here is a big lion, this is the head, this is the body, and this is the tail. It is guarding a group of playing lion cubs over there. This scene is called "Shiling Zhaoxia".
These peaks, ancient trees, and lions are all stalactites formed by water dripping from the cave ceiling. Water containing calcium ions drips from the cracks. After tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of years of accumulation, it crystallizes into hanging stalactites. Stalactites on the roof of the cave; water drips to the ground, forming stalagmites that grow from bottom to top; over a long period of time, stalagmites and stalactites are connected to form stone pillars. This type of stalactites formed by dripping water is called dripstone secondary chemical deposits. There is a Chinese idiom that says, "A drop of water penetrates a stone." However, in Reed Flute Cave, a drop of water penetrates a stone. As long as there is dripping water, the stalactites will continue to grow.
2. Hongluobao Tent
This is like a dome mosquito net. This is the top of the tent, and this is the tent cloth. Half of the mosquito net has been folded neatly. The top of the tent is called a cave shield, which is like an ancient weapon shield, and abroad it is called a palette. The cave shield is formed by seepage water squeezed out from cracks in the cave wall. The water flow forms two circular shields above and below the cave shield. There is an empty space in the middle of the two shields. The water flows out from the gap between the shields and forms the lower stone mantle. When the stone curtain is 2-3 meters long, the stone shield and stone curtain together form a shield tent, which looks like a dome mosquito net. There is an American turkey on the lower right side of the shield tent, and a small ostrich on the turkey's tail.
3. Half Poetry Platform
There is a small platform here. According to legend, it was a place where ancient poets watched the scenery and recited poems. One day, a poet came from afar and was fascinated by the magical scenery of Reed Flute Cave. He couldn't help but write poetry. However, he only wrote half of the poem and could no longer find the appropriate verses. This half of the poem says: "I was born with so many skills on the reed flute, but it is difficult to write about the strange rocks." Later generations called it "Half Poetry Platform". If any tourist is interested, please write the second half of the poem.
4. Gaoxia Waterfall
Please see here there are two mountain peaks covered with green trees. Between the two peaks, a waterfall with sparkling silver water and splashing water cascades down. The majestic momentum is like Like the Chinese poet Li Bai of the Tang Dynasty who described "Flying water down three thousand feet, it is suspected that the Milky Way falls from the sky." This scene is called "High Gorge Flying Waterfall".
The stalactites, stalagmites, and stone pillars near the waterfall are formed by dripping water. If it is not dripping water, but flake flowing water, it will form shapes such as stone waterfalls, stone mantles, and stone flags. , this type of stalactite is called flowstone secondary chemical sediment.
This stone waterfall was formed relatively recently, contains few impurities, has good crystallization, and looks particularly white and crystal clear.
5. Tasong Aoxue
There are two peculiar stalagmites here. One is like a big snowman. This is the head and body. The most prominent part is its arms. Due to the cold weather, its hands have been retracted into its pockets. Went in. The other one is like a tower-shaped pine tree with a pointed top and rounded bottom. The branches and leaves of the pine tree are covered with a thick layer of ice and snow, standing in the forest and snowfield. As the saying goes: "The green pine becomes greener under the pressure of snow." The white snow and green pine also show the strong character of the green pine that is not afraid of the severe cold and proud of the wind and snow. Southerners who have never seen snow scenes can enjoy the northern scenery here. This scene is called "Tasong Aoxue". The temperature in Reed Flute Cave is around 20 degrees Celsius all year round, and there are no conditions for ice and snow to drift. The white snow here is composed of calcite crystals with very few impurities.
6. The Legend of Mushroom
What we see now is a mushroom mountain, which is covered with large and small mushrooms. There was an old man who went into the mountains to pick mushrooms. The mushrooms grew very fast. Every time he picked one, another mushroom grew. These are small mushrooms, big mushrooms, and an extra-large king mushroom over there. Look, this old man is coming down the mountain with a mushroom in his arms!
7. A bumper harvest of melons and vegetables
There are many melons, fruits and vegetables on this mountain. This is lotus root, beans, tall cabbage, cauliflower, loofah, bitter melon, winter melon, peanuts, and at the foot of the mountain there is watermelon and a Guangxi specialty pomelo. This area is the place with the most cracks on the cave roof. During the rainy season, there will be large streams of water, dripping water, and water droplets falling from high places and splashing into mist. This water rich in acid radicals and calcium ions forms a stone-like structure. Coal-based synergistic sedimentation created this harvest scene.
8. Boxwood carving
The huge stalactite in front of us looks like an exquisite boxwood carving. Some people say it looks like the fairy mountain on the sea - Pengcai. It is covered with all kinds of exotic flowers and plants: evergreen trees that last for thousands of years, ginseng, angelica, precious medicinal Ganoderma lucidum, and Zhang Guolao who has returned from collecting medicine.
9. Panlong Pagoda
The columnar stalagmite in the distance is like a pagoda. There is a green dragon coiled around the tower, twisting and twisting into several layers. People call it "Panlong Pagoda". The obvious dragon scales on the dragon are formed by splashing water deposits.
10. Birds singing and flowers fragrant
Look, the flashlight illuminates a little swallow with a white belly and black feathers. It is tilting its head and singing to an owl halfway inside the cave. There are many cockscombs in bloom on the mountain. There is a budding red flower bud under the cockscomb. It is said that this flower bud can bloom, and it is particularly bright and fragrant when it blooms. Today, the flower bud has not bloomed yet. Please come and watch it when the flowers bloom. This scene is called "birds singing and flowers fragrant".
11. Two Pillars Holding the Sky
This is a magnificent picture of a primeval forest: there are thousand-year-old pines and ten thousand-year-old cypresses, so densely packed that you can’t even see the edge. These densely packed tall stone pillars form the most spectacular stone forest in Reed Flute Cave.
The two stone pillars in the forest are really majestic. They are the same height and thickness. If you look closely, you can see the difference between them: the one on the right does not seem to be connected to the top of the cave, but in fact there are several stone wires on the top that are connected. The "stone pillar" on the left seems to be connected, but in fact it is almost not connected. It is just covered by a stone curtain of the same color on the top of the pillar. It’s really like “it seems like they are connected but not connected, and they seem to be connected but not connected”. Strictly speaking, the connected one is called a stone pillar, and the unconnected ones are called stalactites at the top and stalagmites at the bottom. However, they have all broken through the clouds and pierced the sky. People call them "two pillars holding up the sky." According to research by geologists, the unconnected root will one day be connected as long as there is still water dripping activity. In Guilin's caves, due to different conditions, stalactites grow at different rates. Some grow a few millimeters every hundred years, and some grow twenty or thirty centimeters. Will they be able to be connected after 100 years? I wish you all the best. May you live a long and healthy life and come visit again in 100 years.
12. Yunshan outside the curtain
The stalactites, stalagmites, stone pillars, stone curtains, and stone curtains here are as dense as a forest, and it looks like a large window frame. Most people's curtains are hung inside the window, but the curtains at Reed Flute Cave are hung outside the window. Looking out through the half-rolled curtains, it is really a vast forest and thousands of mountains.
On the upper right side of the window, there are a pair of corns, a chayote, and a pineapple hanging. There are two mosquito nets over there. It can be seen that this house has an owner. Where has the owner gone? Please Looking at the mountain opposite, an old man is holding his little grandson and admiring the beautiful scenery of Yunshan Mountain! (There are Shiqin, Index Finger Peak and other scenery outside the window)
13. Crystal Palace
This is the widest part of Reed Flute Cave, with the widest point being 93 meters and the highest point being 18 meters. A huge palace lantern hangs on the upper left side of the hall, dyeing the entire hall a layer of color. The magical color looks like the Crystal Palace of the Dragon King of the East China Sea in the mythical story.
Now everyone is invited to visit the Crystal Palace...
When you walk into this hall, you will definitely feel like this, why is it so flat and empty, without dense stalactites? Two reasons: First, the rock formations here are gentle. The water from the ancient underground lake dissolved the entire layer of rock along the rock layer, leaving a flat layer that became this hall; secondly, because the rock on the cave roof here is relatively complete and has small cracks, water cannot penetrate down, so the stalactites are also few. The bottom of the cave appears even more flat and wide.
This is the deepest place in the ancient underground lake. It was once a veritable Crystal Palace. According to legend, this is where Sun Wukong caused havoc in the Dragon Palace. Sun Wukong is the monkey god in Chinese myths and legends. In order to get this divine needle that can fix the sea, he fought with the Dragon King's shrimp soldiers and crab generals. Look, this jellyfish is floating around in the palace, acting as a patrol. Half of the Zhenhai Tower was knocked down by Sun Wukong. The conch guarding the hall also took a blow from Sun Wukong. You see, the shell was broken. The little conch monster was clever and ran away quickly when it encountered danger. Old Sun blew it through a hole with just one breath.
Seeing how powerful Sun Wukong was, this big carp was so frightened that it burrowed into the mud, leaving only its body and tail exposed. Please note that this carp was originally a stone pillar. The tail is a stalactite part, and the body is a stalagmite part. After being connected to form a stone pillar, due to the sinking of the foundation clay, the top was pulled off and away from the cave roof, turning into a carp that burrowed into the mud.
The Dragon King was no match for Sun Wukong, so he got into the dragon pond and escaped. The third prince of the Dragon King thought he had some ability, but he was beaten by Sun Wukong until his hands and feet were numb, and he stood there blankly. After watching for so long, everyone still doesn’t know where Sun Wukong is? Look, he has won and is riding on the conch!
14. Yuanwang Mountain City
In the distance with the bright lights, there is a beautiful river and mountains. Some people say it is like a beautiful coastal city, others say it is like the Bund of Shanghai, but more tourists say , it couldn’t be more like Guilin, which has the best scenery in the world. Guilin's landscape has four major characteristics: clear mountains, beautiful waters, strange caves, and beautiful rocks. Please look at the brand-new buildings and golden fields there. It’s really:
The strange mountains and beautiful waters add splendor, and the beautiful mountains and rivers take on a new look. This scene is called "Yuanwang Mountain City".
15. Sunflower Gorge
We came to the path in the cave and walked through the stalactite forest. There is a big golden sunflower on the canyon, and people call it "Sunflower Gorge".
16. Listening to the Flute in a Quiet Place
This is a quiet and elegant little cave. Legend has it that in the past there was a singer who often brought a flute made from reeds to play here, and the flute sound was clear and melodious. This wrinkled stone curtain looks like a reed, and the one with three knots on the far left is a reed flute. The big gecko on the left is crawling out of the hole, listening to the beautiful flute sound; the little elephant in the back is swinging its long trunk and dancing to the flute sound; the monkey is so fascinated by the sound that it has forgotten the banana in its hand. Eat; Santa Claus was even more overjoyed, and his beard turned into a flower with a smile. This scene is called "listening to the flute in a quiet place".
This is the thinnest stone flag in Reed Flute Cave, so thin that it can transmit light.
17. Treasure Mirror Shining on the Centipede
There is a mirror here, the mirror is covered with a thin layer of gauze. Legend has it that as long as the veil is lifted, it will emit snow-white light, making all monsters and ghosts afraid when they see it. You see, before the veil was even lifted, this purple-red centipede was so frightened that it burrowed into the cracks in the stone. The round mirror-shaped, shield-shaped stalactites in the cave are called cave shields, and Westerners call them palettes. This precious mirror is purple-red because the cave shield contains iron and manganese elements. The owl was sleeping, with one eye open and one closed according to its old habit.
18. Stage curtain
This is like a stage. The performance has just ended. What was just performed was the Zhuang folk song and dance drama "Liu Sanjie". The golden velvet curtain is slowly closing, this scene is called "stage curtain:."
This flaky stalactite is called a stone curtain and is formed by flaky flowing water.
19. Pearl Goldfish
This is a big goldfish. These are the big eyes on its head, this is the body, and this is the tail. It has pearl-like scales on its body, so it is also called Pearl Goldfish.
Please look at the top of the cave. There is a stone flag here. It was originally complete, but at some point the lower half broke. It doesn't matter if this is the case, a Guangxi specialty - cinnamon, a traditional Chinese medicine.
20. The lion sees off guests
The tour inside Reed Flute Cave is coming to an end. This stalagmite looks like a proud lion. You can see it holding its head high and wagging its tail, greeting everyone enthusiastically, its mouth slightly open, as if Say goodbye! Friends! Welcome to visit Reed Flute Cave again when you have time in the future. This is the last scene we visited called "The Lion Seeing Off Guests". The tour of Reed Flute Cave ends here. Everyone is welcome to provide valuable opinions on our work. I wish you all a pleasant journey.
