How to get a student visa to study in Malaysia?

Want to know how to get a student visa in Malaysia? This process is very simple. Let's take a look.

Malaysia is a popular destination for many international students, and there are many courses and majors to choose from. Most private universities provide students with twinning transfer programs from universities in Britain, the United States, Australia and other countries, providing students with a variety of learning paths.

English is the teaching language of Malaysian universities. Many universities also offer joint courses and have established cooperative relations with famous universities such as university of east london. Students can complete a three-year or four-year degree program in Malaysia while still obtaining a degree from an overseas institution.

Malaysia's own private and public universities are growing steadily in reputation, research and quality.

The best performing university in Malaysia, Malaya University, is Malaysia 1 University. In the British Times, universities in emerging economies rank 18 in higher education.

Malaysia is an ideal tourist destination, it is an important strategic location in Southeast Asia, and it can afford the living expenses and tuition.

Malaysia has a warm climate all year round, a wide variety of food, and many beautiful cities and islands for tourists to spend their holidays, so Malaysia is a very attractive destination for international students.

The visa procedure is simple. The following are the ways to obtain a Malaysian student visa:

1. Required documents

The following are the general documents required to obtain a visa approval letter:

Your report card/academic record after middle school and high school.

English Language Proficiency Certificate (IELTS, TOEFL)

If you apply for a master's degree, you can get GRE or GMAT scores.

Fill in the visa application form

University admission notice

Passport-sized photo

Copy of passport (valid for one year)

Pre-arrival physical examination report

Students can apply through the school or the Malaysian Education Global Service (EMGS) website.

Obtain a visa approval letter

When you or your boarding school pay the required fees and submit your documents, you will receive a visa approval letter (val) issued by the Malaysian Immigration Bureau.

Once you receive it, you can plan your trip to Malaysia. It usually takes at least 14 working days to approve the visa from the date when EMGS receives the application documents and payment.

Students will receive electronic visa approval in PDF format or through the "Follow-up Application" page on EMGS website.

The visa approval letter means that you have been approved to get a student pass. This letter is not a real student pass, it only allows you to enter Malaysia, where you will complete the process.

Depending on your country, you may need to obtain an entry visa from the Malaysian Embassy. If your country does not require you to have a visa to enter Malaysia, you only need a visa approval letter.

Arrive in Malaysia

When you arrive in Malaysia, you need to show your visa approval letter, passport and admission notice at the immigration counter.

Your passport should be stamped with a special pass, which will give you a valid stay time before you apply for a formal student ID card. The validity period varies from 14 days to 30 days, at the discretion of the Immigration Bureau.

When you arrive at the school, you will be welcomed by the school representative. This person is responsible for taking you to your university, so be sure to share all your information with them before you leave your motherland.

Note: If you arrive at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), you need to go to the International Student Arrival Center (ISAC), where you have some formalities and meet your university representatives.

Obtain a student visa

After arriving in Malaysia, you have 7 days to enter Malaysia and take a physical examination at EMGS specialist clinic. This is mandatory, because EMGS can't process your student ID card until you get the qualification of "fit for study" in the specialist clinic.

Once you are qualified for study, EGMS will contact your university, submit your passport and endorse your student ID card instead of the pass you received when you entered the country. You will also get a student ID card (iKad).
