Introduction to Zhucheng

Zhucheng City belongs to Shandong Province and is managed by Weifang. It was named after the famous ancient emperor Shun Emperor was born in Zhufeng Village in the north of the city. In the 7th year of Empress Lu of the Western Han Dynasty (181 BC), a county was established. In the Song Dynasty, it was the administrative seat of Mizhou Prefecture. Zhucheng is located in the central and eastern part of Shandong Province, at the southeastern end of Weifang City and the upper reaches of the Wei River. In 2010, the total area was 2,183 square kilometers and the total population was 1.088 million1. Zhucheng is an important transportation hub in Shandong Peninsula. The Jiao-Xinjiang Railway and the southern line of Jiqing Expressway run through Zhucheng. Six trunk roads in the city extend in all directions. It takes one hour to drive to the two major ports of Qingdao and Rizhao and the two major airports of Qingdao and Weifang. Zhucheng is located at the junction of Taiyi Mountains and Jiaowei Plain. The south is low mountains and hills, and the north is plains and depressions. The average annual temperature in Zhucheng is 12℃, and the average annual precipitation is 776 mm. Mineral resources include barite, quartz stone, fluorite, bentonite, potassium feldspar, alunite, mica, marble, yellow granite, etc. It is one of the national commercial grain bases and is rich in apples, chestnuts and kiwi fruits. Zhucheng has places of interest such as Wang Jinmei Memorial Hall, Dashun Garden, and Dinosaur Museum. Zhucheng is a treasure house of rare dinosaur fossils in China. The world's largest duck-billed dinosaur fossil was unearthed and displayed in Zhucheng. Therefore, Zhucheng is also called "Dragon City". Zhucheng ranks 32nd in the 13th National Ranking of the Top 100 Counties and Cities in County Economy and County Basic Competitiveness.
