Distribution of the Siraya people

This tribe can be divided into three tribes: Siraya, Makatao (Makatao or Makabau), and Dawulong (according to Ogawa Shangyi and Li Rengui, although the three tribes have slightly different languages, they belong to same dialect). ?

It is also called Sishe Shufan to distinguish it from the "Sishefan" of the Cao clan. This branch is called Sishe Pingpu. During the Dutch period, their original place of residence was the western foothills of the Wushan Mountains and the plains of the Zengwen River Basin, which is now the territory of Yujing and Danei Townships in Tainan County. Four societies were formed here, including Jiaba, Mangzimang, Tooushe and Xiaoli. At the end of the Ming Dynasty, the area where they lived was occupied by the Han people. After arriving in Qing Dynasty, the number of immigrants increased day by day, and they led the move to the four communities of the Cao people in the foothills of Dongfang Mountain, and continued to move to the area along the Xianxi River in Nanzi, forcing the aboriginal Cao people to (Meilong, Paijian, Dahuqiao, and Yaner four communities) retreated to their current residence in the upper reaches of Linong River. At the beginning of Qianlong's reign, Han culture had been deeply integrated. They gave up their inherent customs and adopted scripts instead. They lived together with the Han people and were dispersed from the four communities into twenty-nine tribes. The distribution of the former residences of the four societies in Pingpu is as follows: Qieba Society (now Erli, Jiabei and Jianan, Shanhua Town, Tainan County), Xiaoli Society (now Fengli Village, Yujing Township, Tainan County), Mangzai Mangshe (now Tainan County) Wangming Village, Sanhe Village, Yujing Township, County) and Toushe (today’s Toushe Village, Danei Township, Tainan County).
