The usage of German articles

Usage of definite article

1) refers to a certain kind of person or thing:

Baum is alone.

A tree is a plant.

This is a car.

A car is a means of transportation.

2) When the above-mentioned person or thing is mentioned again:

I saw a Baum. Baum bulut.

I see a tree. This tree has blossomed.

3) Add an adjective attribute before a person or place name:

4) Before non-neutral nouns:

II- indefinite article

1) Before the first person or thing mentioned:

3) Before the singular noun after haben or esgibbt:

Nouns without articles

1) refers to plural nouns:

Do you remember?

Do you have any questions?

They sell used cars.

2) Before nouns indicating status, occupation, etc:

She is a student.

3) Before the noun after the preposition als:

4) When a noun is preceded by a possessive pronoun, demonstrative pronoun, cardinal word or second case attribute, the noun does not need an article:
