Are there Jews in China?

Jews in China are descendants of Jews. Although Jews living permanently in China are not counted among the 56 ethnic groups. This happens because most Jews came to China during World War II, not the aborigines of China, so they are counted as immigrants. Just as there are a large number of China people in the United States, the American government has not listed a Han nationality as its own nation. This is essentially different from the Russians in Xinjiang.

The origin of Jewish descendants

During the Northern Song Dynasty, many Jews moved to our country. Distributed in Gansu, Ningxia, Jiangsu and Kaifeng. Their descendants basically intermarried with the Han nationality and the Hui nationality and changed their surnames to the Han nationality, mainly Li and Zheng. During the Northern Song Dynasty, from 960 to 1 127, Jews went north through India and then eastward along the Silk Road into the Central Plains of China. These Jews witnessed the prosperity of Kaifeng, the capital of the Northern Song Dynasty, and they did not want to return.
