The area and population of Hainan Island

Hainan covers an area of 35,400 square kilometers and has a population of10,204,600.

Hainan Province is located at the southernmost tip of China, bounded by Qiongzhou Strait in the north, facing Vietnam across the sea in the Beibu Gulf in the west, facing Taiwan Province Province in the South China Sea in the east, and bordering the Philippines, Brunei and Malaysia in the South China Sea in the southeast and south. Hainan Province has a total land area of 35,400 square kilometers, including 33,900 square kilometers of Hainan Island and 2 million square kilometers of sea area.

As of 202 1, the resident population in Hainan Province was 10204600, an increase of 123400 over the previous year. The Han, Li and Miao nationalities in Hainan Province are indigenous peoples, and the rest are cadres, workers and immigrants who moved in after liberation, and they are scattered all over the province. Science and Technology Hainan Wenchang Space Launch Site, the only launch site near the sea in China, has the characteristics of the lowest latitude, wide range, high carrying efficiency, less transportation restrictions and good safety of the landing zone. It mainly undertakes launching tasks such as geosynchronous orbit satellites, high-mass polar orbit satellites, large-tonnage space stations, cargo spacecraft and deep space probes.
