Study abroad experience: a foreigner's "little Vietnam"

Abroad, we become "foreigners". There are students from seven or eight countries in my journalism department, so there are foreigners among foreigners. Because "neither of us is happy-forever is old", we get along well. During the break, students from the same country are used to getting together and chatting in their own language. When they need to talk with other students, they become Russian, which is very interesting. Sometimes we China students argue about a problem together. When no one can convince anyone, we will ask a classmate next to us for help. When we see each other's inexplicable Chinese appearance, we all laugh together.

Among the international students from these seven or eight countries, there is only one Vietnamese girl with a beautiful name "Chen Tihaitang". She is not like the Vietnamese we see on domestic TV, but more like a southerner on our side. The first time I saw her, I mistook her for China and greeted her in Chinese. As I have just arrived in Great Britain, I don't know many people in China, and our relationship has always been very good. China, a fellow international student, also likes this short, thin and beautiful Vietnamese girl. They all call her "Little Vietnam" or "Haitang".

Begonia lives very hard and studies very hard. She went to the earliest class and sat in the first row. To this end, she once explained to me that "there are dozens of people in the class, and it is impossible for the teacher to remember everyone's face." I sit in the first row just to let the teacher remember me. " We usually have dinner and chat with several overseas students from China. She always follows us and listens to us quietly in Chinese. One day, while everyone was waiting for the subway, she suddenly said in very standard Chinese, "There are so many people!" " We were surprised, and then everyone said seriously, "Haitang, you can learn Chinese completely." It must be beautiful! " She also said seriously: "Good! Let's start now! How do you teach me to say' now' in Chinese? " So, we taught her "now-now!" "pickles?" No matter how much we taught her, she still couldn't pronounce "now", so we tried to explain the meaning of "pickles" in Chinese, and everyone hugged her and smiled happily. At the weekend, she came to my dormitory and told me that Vietnam is very poor now. Her parents have five brothers and sisters to send her to school in Moscow. Her brothers and sisters studied Chinese at school, but she changed to English at school for some reason. But she likes China very much and knows the Great Wall in China and Wan Li. She spoke calmly with a weather-beaten face. I comforted her and told her about China's reform and opening up, the Great Wall in Beijing, and Mount Tai in Shandong ... She listened with beautiful big eyes and followed me to say "The Great Wall and Mount Tai" over and over again in the Chinese I just learned. When she left, she told me excitedly that her mother wrote to say that as long as she got good grades in Moscow, she would pay for her to go to China in the future! Later, she came to my dormitory many times to watch the tapes and VCDs I brought back from China and listen to me. I asked her if she could watch China's TV in Vietnam. Which singer and actress do you like best in China? She said "Wang Leehom" and "Zhao Wei" in very standard Chinese!

Because the long Vietnam War has brought Haitang a strong and optimistic personality, we have never seen her depressed expression. Because she lives in a different place, she got off the subway one stop earlier than us. Every time we see the thin body of Haitang from the subway window, smiling and skipping towards the subway exit with a bag on her back, we appreciate and admire her. The morning before my freshman summer vacation, I received a farewell call from Haitang. I asked her when she would return to China, because she hasn't been back for more than two years. She told me in a happy tone: because Vietnam is not as prosperous as Moscow, I have to walk in Moscow for a few days and breathe more fresh air. ...

Although the study life abroad sometimes seems tense and boring, it is precisely because students from various countries like Little Vietnam help and encourage each other that our life is always full of sunshine and laughter!
