Ancient Korea

Koguryo

Like other nationalities, the history of the Korean nation began with myths. Legend has it that the ancestor of Koreans is Dangong. His father, Xiong Huan, was the illegitimate son of Emperor Yin Huan. Xiong Huan led his men to Taibai Mountain (Changbai Mountain today). At this time, a bear and a tiger lived in a cave. They came to King Xiong Huan and asked him to turn them into people by magic. Xiong Huan gave them absinthe and garlic, and told them to swallow them, and then went to the cave to hide from the sun for one hundred days, so that their wishes could be realized. The bear obeyed the instructions, and as a result, he avoided the sun for 2 1 day and became a human in advance. The tiger failed to become a man because of impatience. The woman who became a bear had no spouse, so she went to pray for King Xiong Huan. Xiong Huan married the bear girl and gave birth to a son named Dangong and Wang Jian. This Dangun was the founding king of ancient Korea. Therefore, Koreans today are used to seeing Changbai Mountain as a sacred mountain. However, myth is myth, and it should be a history constantly revised by later generations. According to ancient records, the north and south of the Korean peninsula have experienced different historical development trajectories. After China destroyed the Shang Dynasty by the King of Wu, many descendants of the Shang Dynasty chose to flee. Zhou Wang's uncle Ji Zi is no exception. He led his people to the northern part of the Korean peninsula, that is, the area north of the Han River and the Datong River today, and established Jizi Korea. During the Qin and Han Dynasties, the Central Plains was in chaos, and Wei Man, a native of Yan State, moved to the northern part of the peninsula. In BC 194, Jizi Korea was destroyed and Weishi Korea was established. During the period of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, the Central Plains Dynasty used troops abroad, and Wei's Korea was not spared. In BC 108, the Han army destroyed Wei and Korea, and set up four counties, including Pyongyang and Seoul today. However, the rule of the Han dynasty in the northern part of the peninsula did not last long. Koguryo, a new country, soon replaced the Han Dynasty. Koguryo was originally a local regime in Liaodong, China. During the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, the Central Plains was in chaos, and Goguryeo took the opportunity to expand wildly, crossing the Liaohe River in the west, the duck green water in the southeast, passing through the northern part of the Korean Peninsula, and then simply moved to Pyongyang. So for such a long time, North Korea has been a part of China's territory. At this time, North Korea and South Korea in history were only a local regime within China.

Sanhan

In the southern part of the peninsula, which has not been fully incorporated into Chinese territory, there have always been three indigenous tribal alliances, known as "three Koreas" in history: Mahan, Chen Han and Han Ge. They are located in the west, east and southeast of the southern tip of the peninsula. Later, Mahan and Han Ge developed into two countries respectively: Baekje and Silla. They conquered each other with Koguryo in the north, forming a full-fledged trend. This period is called the first three countries in Korean history books. With the establishment of the Sui and Tang Dynasties, the separatist regime in the former three countries could not last long. As soon as Yang Di ascended the throne, he was determined to completely solve the Koguryo problem in order to complete the complete reunification of Northeast China. He raised1130,000 soldiers, divided them into 24 armies and conducted a crusade. According to historical records, his million-man army sent an army every day, 40 miles apart and 960 miles from beginning to end, but it was defeated by Koguryo's army. Finally, until Yang Guang was killed in Yangzhou, the Koguryo problem remained unresolved. After the establishment of the Tang Dynasty, Emperor Taizong Li Shimin continued to fight Goguryeo. Finally, under the command of General Su, Tang Jun finally wiped out Koguryo. North Korea returned to China. Many Koguryo people made outstanding attacks on the Tang Dynasty. For example, Gao Xianzhi, the great star of Xuanzong, was a Koguryo. Tang Jun destroyed Koguryo and helped Silla destroy Baekje, unified the southern part of the peninsula, and Korean history entered the Silla era. Therefore, the so-called Korea at this time is actually Silla country south of Datong River.

North Korea; South Korea

About the same time that the Tang Dynasty perished, Silla also perished in the fury of the peasant uprising. The Korean peninsula entered the post-Three Kingdoms era. In 90 1 year, an aristocratic Gong family from the royal family usurped the leadership of the peasant uprising army and established the Taifeng State (originally called Mozhen State). The post-Baekje established by Taifeng, Silla and Zhen Xuan in 900 A.D. is also known as the "post-Three Kingdoms". But this period is very short. Soon, the Gong clan was killed by Wang Jian, the minister of the Koryo dynasty after the establishment. In 936, the post-Koryo dynasty unified the Korean peninsula. After the Mongols entered the Central Plains to establish the Yuan Dynasty, Korea was not spared and became a province in the territory of the Yuan Dynasty. But there is something special about this province, and its supreme ruler is the original king of Korea. By this time, South Korea already had considerable autonomy. Although he was a subject of the Yuan Dynasty, he maintained the power and majesty of the king. At the end of Yuan Dynasty, the world was in chaos. As a vassal state of the Yuan Dynasty, North Korea certainly wanted to show its loyalty to the suzerain country, so it sent a general to let Li Chenggui send troops to help the Central Plains. However, the sophisticated Li Chenggui saw that the corrupt rule of the Yuan Dynasty was hopeless, and the invasion of North Korea was just throwing eggs at stones. Therefore, in A.D. 1392, Li Chenggui's army launched a mutiny and turned to depose the king. The dynasty established by Li Chenggui was the Li Dynasty in Korean history. In order to show his loyalty to the suzerain, Li Chenggui wrote to the Ming Dynasty, expressing his willingness to surrender to Zhu Ming, and asked the Central Plains Dynasty to name his regime. Considering that Korea has always been a pain in the heart of the Central Plains Dynasty in history, Zhu Yuanzhang, the Ming Emperor, gave Li Chenggui "Korea" as the title of the new kingdom. In this way, "Korea", which originally belonged to the Koguryo nationality, was called the descendant of Sanhan in the southern part of the Korean Peninsula. At this time, the Korean kingdom had already crossed the Datong River and occupied the area north of the Datong River and the Han River, which once belonged to the Central Plains Dynasty.

Country name and dynasty

Strictly speaking, the Li Dynasty mentioned in the history books should be called "Korea". For example, the name "China" became the official name of our country after the founding of the Republic of China in 19 1. Before that, although everyone called the Qing Dynasty China, the official name of China at that time was Qing, and the Qing court used the name "Qing" in official occasions. According to the custom of our country: after each new regime is established, the rulers will give their country a name, which is the country name. The founder of the Ming Dynasty was Zhu Yuanzhang, and the founder of the Qing Dynasty was Manchu Ai Xinjue Roche, but we call them the Ming Dynasty and the Qing Dynasty, not the Zhu Dynasty and the Aisingiorro Dynasty. Therefore, the established Li Dynasty was actually "North Korea", and "North Korea" was a country name for a long time.

Renchen war

As a vassal state of China, North Korea is a typical tributary system in East Asia. From the relationship between China, Japan and South Korea, we can clearly see the special relationship between the oriental suzerain and the vassal state. Japan has been eyeing the Korean peninsula since Japan and the Yamato era, and has been interfering in the internal affairs of North Korea by virtue of its stronghold in the south of the peninsula. But this kind of interference must be approved or acquiesced by the central dynasty. In 438 AD, the true king of Japan paid tribute to the Southern Dynasties and the Song Dynasty, demanding that "the six military forces, General Anton, and the king of Japan, that is, the Japanese governor kept a festival, Baekje Silla, Na Ren, Qin and Han Dynasties, and Han Mu", was flatly rejected by Song Wendi. It was not until 478 AD that Wu Wang, the Japanese country, also asked for rectification in the above table, and Song Cai named him "the military attache of the six countries, General Anton, the king of Japan". In 66 1 a.d., Japan brazenly sent troops to Korea, only to be defeated by Tang Jun who came to aid Korea in Baicun River. At this time, Japan also realized the gap between itself and the Tang Dynasty, so it turned aggression into learning. After a long time, China and Japan lived in peace. In AD 1274 and 128 1, Mongolian troops tried to invade Japan, but failed in a typhoon. This is the only example of the mainland regime's attempt to invade Japan in history. In the future, Japan will still target its aggression at North Korea and China. In A.D. 1592, Toyotomi Hideyoshi sent troops to Korea after reunifying Japan in an attempt to realize the dream of "making Chang 'an its capital". The Ming Dynasty immediately sent troops to rescue North Korea. Li Shunchen, the general of the North Korean water army, commanded the army to defeat the invading army many times. 1598, in the final decisive exposed beam naval battle, the Chinese and Korean armies fought side by side and completely wiped out the Japanese army. In the battle, Li Shunchen and 70-year-old Ming veteran Deng Zilong both died.

1894- 1895 sino-Japanese war

At the end of Qing Dynasty, China was bullied by foreign powers, and North Korea was no exception. Although it was suggested that Li Hongzhang, who was in power in the Qing Dynasty at that time, should establish a province in North Korea as soon as possible to avoid imperialist coveting. However, due to the situation, Li Hongzhang did not adopt this proposal. Japan, which has long coveted the Korean peninsula, has extended its claws to the Korean peninsula. 1876 forced north Korea to sign the jianghua treaty. At home and abroad, the Korean people are unwilling to be slaves of the aggressors. 1894, the Dongxue Party uprising led by Quanzhun Zhun broke out. Japan took the opportunity to intervene in North Korea's internal affairs, pretending to help North Korea quell civil strife and attempting to launch another war of aggression against North Korea. In order to help North Korea and defend the authority of the suzerain country, the Qing army sent troops to suppress the East Learning Party at the invitation of North Korea. However, the cunning Japanese invaders were already ready to go to war with the Qing Dynasty. 1895 Sino-Japanese War of 1895 (1895), China was defeated and had to give up the suzerainty of North Korea. 19 10, Korean traitor Li Wanyong signed a contract with Japan. The historical significance of the Sino-Japanese War in the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895 lies not only in the fact that it greatly deepened the semi-colonial and semi-feudal society in China, but also in the collapse of the tributary system in East Asia for thousands of years. Japan has replaced China as the dominant player in East Asia.
