The US Immigration Service does not exist. It has long been renamed the Citizenship Service.

Recently, an interesting announcement was posted on the USCIS website, reminding everyone that "the Immigration Bureau no longer exists".

Because the Civil Affairs Bureau found that on their official website, www.USCIS.GOV, for a long time, many visitors were searching for Ins, an institution that handled immigration business in their history. Only at 20 1 1 1, 30,000 people entered INS in their search fields to query.

The Citizenship Bureau (CIS) reminds the public that the Immigration Bureau, which historically belonged to the Ministry of Justice, was divided into three agencies in the restructuring of the Department of Homeland Security, called CIS (prefix of US Citizenship and Immigration). Ice (prefix of US Customs Service) and CBP (prefix of US Customs and Border Protection). Among them, CIS (Citizenship Bureau) handles most of the business called "Immigration Bureau" in the past, that is, examining immigration and naturalization applications.

The remaining functions were transferred to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (law enforcement function) and CBP (border inspection function).

What puzzles the Civil Affairs Bureau is that the replacement of old and new institutions took place on March 1 2003, and people can't help calling for "eight years, don't mention it". It can be seen how difficult it is to change a title, just like the "green card" (permanent resident card) no longer exists but the title exists.
