This is very similar to Nanjing, but Hangzhou has become an ancient capital far less often than Nanjing. The dialects of suburban counties in Hangzhou are still very traditional Wu dialect. For example, Yuhang dialect is close to Jiaxing and Huzhou, and Xiaoshan dialect is Shaoxing dialect, which is not influenced by Putonghua.
