You still need a China passport to apply for a visa to other countries. Naturally, it is impossible and impossible to give up domestic hukou.

Second, if you become a foreign national, take the United States as an example, and you become an American citizen. American law recognizes dual or even multiple nationality, but China does not recognize it. If you need to return to China, when you apply for a return visa for the first time, the embassy or consulate requires you to provide your previous China passport, which will be invalid and registered. You can only apply for a Chinese visa to China as an American citizen with an American passport.

But after entering China, your account and ID card are still valid. According to the relevant regulations, I need to take my ID card and American passport to the household registration management window of the entry-exit administration office, fill out a form, and apply for renunciation and cancellation of China nationality and household registration. If you don't go through this procedure, no one will take care of it, and your resident ID card is still valid. The hukou still exists, but every time you return to China, you must register with the police station in your jurisdiction within 24 hours after your arrival. Just don't let the people in the police station recognize that they are residents of the jurisdiction, otherwise they will rush to cancel their accounts.

A friend is like that. With the help of overseas Chinese immigrants, he has taken the American passport for many years, and his account and ID card are still valid. There is no problem going to the bank by plane. However, the visa for visiting relatives can only stay for three months at a time, so you must leave the country.
