Biography of Irving Goffman.

Gofman was born in Mainville, Alberta, with the number 1922. He is a descendant of Ukrainian family in the wave of Russian immigration to Canada before the beginning of the 20th century. The family later moved to Dove, Manitoba, where his father made a fortune as a tailor. After studying in Winnipeg Middle School for three years, he became a student (majoring in chemistry) at the University of Manitoba in the first year of World War II, but he gave up his studies and moved to Ottawa to work for the Canadian National Film Company founded by john grierson. Later he developed his interest into sociology. During this period, he met the famous North American sociologist Dennis Wrong. This meeting also inspired him to leave Manetho, enter the University of Toronto, complete his studies at 1945, and get a bachelor's degree in sociology and anthropology. Later, I went to the University of Chicago, where I received my master's degree and doctor's degree in sociology at 1949 and 1953 respectively. He is also the younger brother of actress Frances Bay.
