Zhaotong Muslim life

Zhaotong is one of the Muslim communities in Yunnan Province. Recently, I went back to my hometown to visit relatives. As a Muslim, I pay special attention to all aspects of Muslim life. Although I was in a hurry this time, I only glanced at it in a hurry, but I was deeply impressed.

The first is the religious life of Muslims, which I think fully reflects the party's? Freedom of religious belief policy? Mosques, large and small, are crowded with people on the main assembly day, and every mosque hall is crowded with people. The imam of the mosque and the head of the temple management committee used this great opportunity to publicize the party's ethnic and religious policies and talk about Islamic teachings. Every Muslim has opened an Arabic language school, offering courses in addition to compulsory Arabic, as well as Chinese, mathematics, history and geography, foreign languages, computers, agricultural technology knowledge and so on. Students come from inside and outside the province.

Then there is the Muslim restaurant in Zhaotong. It is said that there are hundreds. The dishes in Zhaotong Muslim restaurant are delicious and full of Zhaotong Muslim characteristics, attracting many non-Muslims to eat. Besides, they are cheap and good, and most Muslim families will come to restaurants to entertain them.

I also want to talk about the halal snacks in Zhaotong. Oil cake, bait and thin bean powder are local specialty snacks in Zhaotong, and stalls can be seen everywhere. Are Muslim booths marked in Arabic or written in Chinese? Halal? In addition, there are fried dough sticks and potatoes, as well as tortillas and buckwheat cakes. Muslim restaurants also sell breakfast, mostly rice noodles, noodles and steamed buns. In the evening, the snacks are mainly barbecue. Beef skewers and stinky tofu, with simple fragrance, make people salivate, especially young people, who eat with relish around the stalls. Whether in the morning or at night, food stalls are strict. Halal? Sign, this is a unique landscape.

Zhaotong also has a farmer's market specifically for Muslims, called? Jianshe Road Farmers' Market? Directly opposite the Dongda Mosque in Zhaotong, there are many Muslims living in Zhaotong. When entering the farmer's market, the first thing that catches your eye is two rows of beef shelves about 50 meters long, of which about 70 or 80 rows are full of thick and tender beef, and occasionally there is a man selling mutton. Muslims here have a unique custom of eating the strongest meat, and lean beef that will flow on the chopping board never patronizes. Zhaotong is one of the main producing areas of Yunnan beef jerky, especially the pickled beef jerky in Taoyuan Town, Ludian County, which is quite famous in Yunnan Province. There are about a dozen shelves selling beef jerky in the market, some of which were marinated thoroughly last year and some were semi-marinated, and now they are sold in the refrigerator. There are also a lot of cooked ox head meat, liver, heart, tongue and tripe. There is a special place to sell chickens, ducks and geese, which are sold now and slaughtered now, to help you remove hair, peel and wash. Most butchers are students in mosques. In addition to meat stalls, tofu, bean jelly, rice flour, bait, and all kinds of pickles, vegetables, etc., are available.

There are also many Zhaotong Muslim pastry factories, and all kinds of cakes are dazzling and surprisingly cheap.

Middle schools and colleges in Zhaotong have Muslim-only canteens. Muslim children can eat good and cheap Muslim food here. There are many Muslim kindergartens in the city, and the life of Zhaotong Muslims is rich and colorful, which makes people deeply feel the warmth of the national family.
