Immigrants from French dependent countries
Permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (P5). The five victorious countries in World War II have retained their strongest military strength since World War II, and have a veto power in the United Nations.
Member States: United States of America (United States), Russian Federation (Russia), United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (United Kingdom), Fifth Republic of France (France), People's Republic of China (PRC) (China). According to the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations, the Security Council is responsible for maintaining international peace and security, and it is the only United Nations body with the power to take enforcement action, among which five countries have the veto power.
The permanent members of the UN Security Council are the five founding members of the UN Security Council, namely, four of the anti-fascist allies during World War II and France, which participated in the anti-german alliance (the anti-german alliance was the predecessor of the anti-fascist alliance). Article 23, paragraph 1, of the Charter of the United Nations clearly stipulates: "The Republic of China, France, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United States of America shall be permanent members of the Security Council." From 1958, France was renamed the Fifth Republic of France, and the seat of the Republic of China was replaced by People's Republic of China (PRC) in 197 1 year. 199 1 year, the seat of the Soviet socialist union was replaced by the Russian Federation.
To become a permanent member, not only a two-thirds majority of all United Nations Member States is needed, but also the affirmative votes of all current permanent members.
Since the founding of the United Nations, the permanent members of the Security Council have played a great role in maintaining world peace and resolving regional conflicts. By the end of 2002, the Security Council had approved and implemented about 55 peacekeeping operations, effectively preventing and slowing down the development and expansion of regional conflicts.
