What are the characteristics of Shanxi folk songs?

"Qu Shan" is mainly distributed in the northwest Shanxi Plateau or Luliang Mountain area, among which "Hequ Mountain" is the best. "Hequ Qushan" is powerful, long and full of Shan Ye flavor. "coloratura" is a popular folk song form in Taihang Mountain area. Mainly distributed in Zuo Quan, Heshun, Wuxiang and Xiangyuan counties. Among them, Zuo Quan Flower Tune is the best.

The style and characteristics of coloratura are quite different from Hequ Qushan. If Hequshan is famous for its high-pitched, loud and free rhythm, then coloratura wins with euphemism, grace and rhythm rules.

"Xi Juan Pian" is the folk song name of Wutai County, Dingxiang County, Xinxian County and Yuanping County. The implication is that you can sing freely. The style and characteristics of Xi Juan Pian are basically similar to Hequ Qushan, but the tune is not as parallel as Hequ Qushan, the rhythm is more compact, and the lyrics are closer to spoken language.
