The Central Judicial Police College is the only general institution of higher learning directly under the Ministry of Justice. It is located in the famous historical and cultural city-Baoding City, Hebei Province. The school is the highest institution in China’s judicial administration system. It shoulders the important task of cultivating high-level professionals in China’s judicial administration, especially the prison labor education system, and training leading cadres and senior police officers in the judicial administration system. It is known as the “cradle of middle- and senior-level police officers” in China.
The school was founded in 1956 and was formerly known as the Ministry of Public Security’s Labor Reform Cadre School. In 1983, it was placed under the leadership of the Ministry of Justice. In April 2002, the Central Judicial Police College was officially established, focusing on general undergraduate education. In October 2011, it was approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council as a pilot unit for the construction of professional master's degrees in law, and obtained the right to award master's degrees.
