How many international languages are there?

There are about 7099 languages spoken in the world. This number is constantly changing, because new world languages may appear or disappear every day. These languages are lively. With the development of modernization, one third of these languages are in danger of extinction. Many factors (such as the spread of ancient civilizations, topography and cultural history) determine the number of languages used in a particular area.

In terms of the number of languages used, the Asian continent accounts for the largest proportion, accounting for 32%. There are about 2300 languages on the Asian continent. The African continent followed closely, accounting for 30%. On the African continent, there are about 2000 languages in use. The Pacific Ocean ranked third with 18.5%, the Americas ranked fourth with 15%, and Europe ranked last with 4%. The distribution of languages in the world is very uneven.

There are 709 languages in Indonesia. Indonesian is the official language of the country. Most of the languages here are Nanyang. Other local languages used include Java, Sun, Minangkabau and Musi.

Nigeria

There are 527 languages in Nigeria. However, there are many other unclassified languages in Nigeria. The languages of Nigeria belong to Niger-Congo language family and Afro-Asian language family. However, their official language is English. Regional languages include Hausa, Igbo and sign language.

India

There are 454 languages in India, and English and Hindi are the official languages. Hindi is widely used and is the fourth most widely used language in the world. Today, there are 422,048,642 people in India who speak Hindi. Other Indian languages include Bengali, Telugu and Audiat. India has 22 official languages.

United States of America

There are 347 languages in the United States, and English is supreme. Immigrants from Mexico, Germany, Arabia, Spain and Russia have had a great influence on the population structure of the United States.

China

There are more than 300 languages in China. These languages are popular in Tibet, Taiwan Province Province, Hongkong and Chinese mainland. More than 955 million people speak Mandarin. However, standard Chinese is the official language. Cantonese is also the official language of other regions, as well as Wu, sign language and English.
