Is the prosperity of Jiangnan economy and culture related to local humanities?

Although Yangzhou is located in the north of the Yangtze River, it has a prosperous economy, developed culture, beautiful city and beautiful scenery. Known as Jiangnan, it is one of the four famous cities in Jiangnan. Yangzhou sees water and Zhenjiang sees mountains. I have only been to Yangzhou, but I still like this place very much. It feels exquisite, urban management is still in place, and there are many humanized measures. After reading this topic, I also had the idea of having a chance to visit Zhenjiang. Local operas and ballads, such as Yangju and Pinghua, especially Yangzhou dialect and Zhenjiang dialect, have been bred in the two places. They are almost twins and belong to the Hong Chao dialect of Jianghuai Mandarin. Their tone systems are almost the same (as shown below), and outsiders can't hear the difference.

Today, Zhenjiang Port is the third largest port in the Yangtze River. There is a river-crossing bridge between Guazhou and Jingkou (Zhenjiang), and the natural moat has become a thoroughfare. The Canal is already a historical and cultural heritage, and the 4A scenic spot of Xijindu in Zhenjiang is the Millennium Ancient Ferry Museum. The crystal Du Bingyan Li Yuhu is so beautiful that people have left a deep impression on Yangzhou. When Suzhou and Hangzhou produced beautiful women, people were deeply impressed by Yangzhou, and Zhenjiang was not so famous. This is the disparity between the two! Yangzhou dialect is particularly clear, cadenced and elegant. Zhenjiang dialect, like Yangzhou dialect, belongs to Jianghuai mandarin, but it is harder, like Northeast dialect and similar to Huai 'an dialect. So the result of the comparison between the two cities is that one is a hero and the other is a show.

They are all on the battlefields of geography, climate, transportation and war. It has produced a unique civil and military spirit and created a warm and tenacious Jianghuai culture. Zhenjiang Liang Hongyu resisted gold, and the Manchu Yangzhou massacre was anathema to him. The main city of Zhenjiang must have been moved from ancient Yangzhou people to the south, because the Yangzhou dialect spoken by people in the main city of Zhenjiang, including Yangzhong, belongs to Yangzhou cultural circle. Wu dialect was spoken throughout Zhenjiang in ancient times, but now only Danyang speaks Wu dialect. With the increasing shortage of global water resources, this kind of drinkable, navigable and considerable playable rivers, lakes and spring water resources will become more and more attractive.
