Does a person's nationality depend on which country he was born in?
refers to the legal qualification that a person belongs to a national or citizen of a certain country, which indicates a fixed legal connection between a person and a specific country and is the legal consultant basis for the country to exercise personal jurisdiction and diplomatic protection.
the acquisition, loss and change of nationality are stipulated by the nationality law. There are two main ways to acquire nationality: birth and naturalization. There are two international principles for acquiring nationality by birth: bloodline system and birthplace system. In a country that adopts the system of birthplace, regardless of the nationality of parents, children acquire their nationality when they are born in their own country. In countries that adopt the principle of descent, regardless of the place of birth, the nationality of the child must follow that of both parents or one of them. Naturalization refers to a foreigner or stateless person who, in accordance with the laws of a country, applies for and obtains the nationality of that country after approval. There are also people who have acquired the nationality of a country through marriage or adoption.
Due to different regulations on nationality in different countries, dual nationality or statelessness often occurs under special circumstances. For example, a citizen of a country that adopts the principle of descent and a child born in a country that adopts the principle of birthplace have the nationality of two countries at the same time. On the other hand, citizens in countries that adopt the principle of birthplace and children born in countries that adopt the principle of descent do not have the nationality of any country.
(1) nationality of birth. Nationality of birth: or adopt the principle of bloodline, that is, determine a person's nationality based on the nationality of his parents at birth; Or adopt the principle of birthplace, that is, determine a person's nationality based on the country where he was born; Or adopt the principle of combining bloodline with birthplace to determine their nationality. China adopts the mixed principle of bloodline as the main principle and birthplace as the supplement, including three contents: first, both parents or one parent is a citizen of China, and I was born in China and have China nationality; Second, one or both parents are China citizens, and I was born in a foreign country and have China nationality; However, if both parents or one of them is a citizen of China and lives in a foreign country, and I am born with a foreign nationality, I do not have China nationality; Third, my parents are stateless, or their nationality is unknown, and they have settled in China. I was born in China and have China nationality.
(2) Successive nationality. According to Article 7 of China's Nationality Law, foreigners or stateless persons applying for citizenship in China must meet two preconditions: first, the applicant must be willing to abide by the Constitution and laws of China; Second, it must be voluntary. At the same time, the necessary conditions are as follows:

② The applicant has settled in China;
③ there are other legitimate reasons. If I am under the age of 18, my guardian or other legal representative can handle the application procedures on my behalf. In China, you can apply to the local city and county public security bureau; Abroad, you can apply to the diplomatic representative office or consular office of China. The above-mentioned authorities are responsible for accepting applications and examining whether the applicants meet the legal requirements, and then the applications will be examined and approved by the Ministry of Public Security of China. With the approval of the Ministry of Public Security and a certificate issued by the relevant public security organ, the applicant acquires China nationality and loses foreign nationality at the same time.
