The long-term goal of the college is to "build a research-oriented college with public policy research and talent training that is close to the world level." On the one hand, it cultivates outstanding public policy professionals for the country, and on the other hand, it provides professional suggestions and basis for the government to formulate public policy through scientific empirical research.

After more than ten years of development, the college has established a unique discipline system that not only attaches importance to the basic theoretical training of related disciplines, but also takes into account the actual needs of social development. Currently, the college has four majors: social security, social policy, social medicine and health management, and non-profit organization management. It also has 3 doctoral programs and 4 master's programs. Among them, the social security major can accept postdoctoral fellows. , and was rated as a school-level key discipline. At the same time, the college offers an MPA professional degree with two professional directions: foundation and social service organization management, crisis decision-making and media strategy. Since independent enrollment in 2005, the college has continuously explored and improved the talent training system, strived to promote teaching reform and curriculum design, and created a wide-caliber, solid foundation, and multi-oriented talent training environment.

As of September 2010, the school has enrolled a total of 68 doctoral students, 113 master's students, 55 CFPs, and 30 MPAs. There are currently 189 students enrolled, including 46 doctoral students, 58 master's students, 55 CFP students, and 30 MPA students. The employment situation of students is relatively good, and the employment ratio ranks among the highest in the school. The faculty of the college come from various disciplines related to social development, including economics, political science, sociology, management, education, psychology, anthropology, geography, statistics, In medicine, public health, etc., teachers have strong academic research capabilities in their respective fields and strive to become leaders in their fields. At the same time, teachers from different fields combine into research teams based on the same research interests and research topics, and are widely involved in various policy research in social development, including social assistance, child protection and development, medical and health, aging health, tobacco Control, development research, anti-poverty, education policy, immigration research, health management, non-profit organization management, emergency management and disaster relief, etc.

In terms of scientific research, the college adheres to the concept of "major projects, major achievements, and major impact". In recent years, it has successively undertaken projects such as "Theoretical and applied research on social policies and the construction of a harmonious society", "Major natural disasters" "Research on a New Framework for Responding to Major Public Emergency Events - An Empirical Study Based on the Wenchuan Earthquake" has played a practical role in the introduction and improvement of national social policies, and has also had a corresponding impact on social development.
