Joseph heller (1923~ 1999) is a famous contemporary American writer and an important representative of "black humor" novels. 1923 was born in a Jewish immigrant family in Brooklyn, new york, and served as an air force lieutenant during World War II. He entered the university after the war and 1948 graduated from new york University. Heller teaches at Pennsylvania State University 1950 to 1952.
