Where is the Tieling Tower located?
Zhuzhi Pagoda is located in Longwei Mountain, Tieling. Because Longwei Mountain was called Zhuzhi Mountain in the Qing Dynasty, the pagoda is also called Zhuzhi Pagoda. This pagoda is of the same type as the Xiufeng pagoda on Longshou Mountain. It is an octagonal, eight-sided and nine-level dense eaves style. The pagoda body is made of green bricks, but the scale of the pagoda is smaller. This pagoda and the Xiufeng pagoda are located at the head and tail of the dragon respectively, facing each other from a distance. In addition, there is a flying star bridge on the mountainside, with winding paths all over the mountain and connecting elegant pavilions, adding a lot to the beautiful scenery of Longshan. The specific year of construction of the tower is unknown. Originally, no information about the tower could be found in various local historical materials.
Initially, people analyzed the name of the tower and believed that the tower was built after the early Qing Dynasty. There is a map in the "Tieling County Chronicle" written in the 22nd year of Kangxi's reign, which shows a small tower at Longwei Mountain. According to the "County Chronicle" recorded in the 16th year of Kangxi's reign, Zhuzhe Mountain was originally named Shuikou Mountain. In the 10th year of Kangxi's reign, Emperor Kangxi, the sage of the Qing Dynasty, visited the east and returned to Beijing from the shipyard (today's Jilin City) when he passed through Shuikou Mountain in Tieling. It was raining heavily. The new house of Ma Wentong, a household on the mountainside, had just been built, and Kangxi took shelter in it from the rain. In ancient times, the place where emperors visited was called Zhuzhe. After that, Shuikou Mountain was changed to Zhuzhe Mountain. Except for the "County Chronicle", there is no information about this tower. It is always a mystery when the tower was built.
In 2000, the mystery of the construction date of the Zhuzhi Tower took a turn for the worse. In this year, in view of the severe tilt of the tower and the danger of collapse at any time, with the approval of the provincial cultural relics department, the tower was "downgraded and overhauled" in April 2000, which meant that the entire tower body was dismantled and rebuilt. When it was demolished it was discovered that there were many misconceptions about the tower. For example, it was originally thought that the pagoda was an "octagonal, eight-sided, nine-level solid eaves type", but in fact it was a hollow pagoda with octagonal, eight-sided and nine-level dense eaves style. It was originally believed that the pagoda was built in the late Ming Dynasty or early Qing Dynasty, and the tower was demolished. At that time, it was discovered that the stone plate in the pagoda contained a copper plate inscription "Records of the Tower Repairs by Li Chengliang, the Commander-in-Chief of Liaodong Province" during the Wanli Period of the Ming Dynasty, and there were records of previous repairs. It was originally thought that the tower had always been called the Zhuzhi Tower, and we learned from the cultural relics found in the demolition of the tower. , this pagoda was originally called Lingying Temple Pagoda, and there should be a Lingying Temple next to the pagoda. It can be inferred from the above-mentioned cultural relic discoveries that the construction date of this tower is no later than the Jingtai year of the Ming Dynasty (1450), or it may have been built in the late Yuan or early Ming Dynasty. The weekend special issue of "Tieling Daily" on September 2, 2000 reported on the pagoda repair situation with the title "The new appearance of Longshan Ancient Pagoda is expected to reappear in October". The report gave people a better understanding of the ancient pagoda and also provided Many mysteries have been solved.
