Can you do manicure during lactation?

Manicure is not recommended during lactation, mainly because nail polish is basically made of nitrocellulose and chemical solvents such as acetone, ethyl acetate, ethyl lactate and phthalic acid tincture. Using this nail polish to coat nails can make them bright and moist and will not fade for a long time.

However, during lactation, these harmful components can easily enter the baby's body through breast milk, and a small amount of harmful substances can enter the adult body and be excreted through metabolism. However, for the weak baby, due to the imperfect liver function, toxins can't be discharged and accumulated in the body, which has an impact on the baby's health.

Harm of manicure during lactation to infants

Nail polish contains a substance called phthalate. If this phthalate is absorbed by human body for a long time, it will do great harm to human health. The main components of nail polish are 70%-80% volatile solvent, 15% nitrocellulose, a small amount of oily solvent, camphor, titanium dioxide and oil-soluble pigment. If the mother manicures her nails during lactation, sometimes the baby may chew her mother's hand and accidentally eat nail polish in her mouth.

Studies have shown that phthalates can especially harm the baby's reproductive organs, leading to genital deformities. It has been reported abroad that some mothers use nail polish containing phthalates as nails during lactation, and the possibility of infertility or impotence will increase when the baby grows up.

Breastfed babies are the most natural and nutritious. Therefore, doctors generally advise mothers to use exclusive breastfeeding as much as possible before the baby is four months old. Therefore, for the sake of the baby's health, we should pay attention to the dietary taboos during lactation, adjust living habits, and avoid unnecessary influence on the baby because of temporary carelessness.
