The first monk in history, the latest evidence shows that the emperor shunzhi became a monk.
There is only one sentence in the history books about his death: Ding Si, Night, Zi Ke and Yangxintang.
But according to folklore, the emperor shunzhi did not die, but gave up the throne and became a monk. This statement is not groundless, but has sufficient factual basis.
According to historical records, in the 14th year of Shunzhi, Fu Lin began to contact monks and became a Buddhist.
In September of the following year, he sent envoys to Hongzhi, Huzhou in the south of the Yangtze River, and called a monk into Beijing.
In February of the sixteenth year of Shunzhi, Yu, a monk from Hongzhi, Huzhou, south of the Yangtze River, went to Beijing to meet him. Fu Lin named him "Dajue Zen Master", claiming to be a disciple, and asked him to take a dharma name. Yu refused again and again, and refused, so he had to use ugly words to name it. I wrote a few words and chose a stupid word called "Xing Chi".
In August of the seventeenth year of Shunzhi, Princess Dong 'e died in Chenggan Palace, and Fu Lin became a monk in pain. At the turn of September and October, Fu Lin decided to become a monk, and his tonsure became bald. Later, due to sourdrang dowager's intervention, Fu Lin had to promise to grow hair and temporarily gave up the idea of becoming a monk. But my heart has been completely influenced by Buddhism.
Of course, folklore is more authoritative than official records. But a survey of folk cultural relics a few years ago turned the folklore of Shunzhi becoming a monk into a truth that can be heard immediately. What's going on here?
There is a Baiyun Temple in Minquan County, Henan Province, which was built in the first year of Zhenguan in Tang Dynasty. The incense of Baiyun Temple reached its peak in Kangxi period of Qing Dynasty. At that time, the whole temple covered an area of more than 500 mu, with more than 0/000 buildings/kloc. Together with Baima Temple in Luoyang, Shaolin Temple in Songshan and Suoguo Temple in Kaifeng, it has become the four famous temples in the Central Plains.
A few years ago, the staff of Shi Zhiban, Minquan County, found two ancient paintings in a villager's home when they were investigating cultural relics around Baiyun Temple. According to the villagers, these two paintings are portraits of two eminent monks.
Because of the years, both portraits have been damaged, and the inscription on them has long since disappeared, leaving only two old monks sitting. However, the details of one of the portraits are surprising. A faucet appeared on the chair behind the old monk, which means that he is sitting in Zhang Long's chair.
A monk sitting in a dragon chair? The dragon chair is a symbol of the royal family. In addition to this dragon chair, there is another detail that makes people wonder. Careful identification will reveal that the old monk is wearing a pair of boots at his feet.
Boots are only worn when ministers are in court, and under no circumstances should they be worn on monks' feet. This style is getting more and more incredible.
In order to find out this, the staff quickly asked the villagers about the name of the old monk in the portrait. According to the keeper of this painting, this is the old monk who woke up late.
"Wake up late" is homophonic with the emperor shunzhi's dharma name "Xing Chi". Later, when the staff looked at the emperor shunzhi's portrait, they found that the emperor shunzhi in the album was very similar to the old man who woke up late in the portrait.
But according to folklore, Shunzhi became a monk in Liangqing Temple in Wutai Mountain, Shanxi Province, while Baiyun Temple in Henan Province was thousands of miles away. How is that possible?
But if the elder who wakes up late is an ordinary monk, what about the dragon chair and boots? There must be a mystery in this.
Therefore, the staff went to Baiyun Temple for a detailed investigation to find new clues.
Baiyun Temple was completely destroyed during the Cultural Revolution. It was not until a few years ago that the local government allocated funds to rebuild the temple. This scale is definitely incomparable with that of that year.
Fortunately, many building components are still old things. The staff found something that surprised them in the old warehouse of the temple. On the glazed tile of the hall that was demolished at the beginning
Wuzhaolong is the exclusive beast of the royal family. If it's not a palace, at least give it to the royal family. There is only one possibility that Baiyun Temple can use such building materials: the Royal Temple.
In order to confirm this, the staff went to Baiyun Village near Baiyun Temple to learn about the situation of the older generation. There are many old people who know the Awakening Elder. They all swear that the Awakening Elder is the emperor shunzhi. It is said that Kangxi has been here two or three times to find his father, and there is still a way to go.
They also said that the gilded pagoda in the temple and the glazed tile of Golden Dragon with Five Claws were royal gifts from Emperor Kangxi to Baiyun Temple. It is said that Shunzhi lived to be forty-nine years old and died here at the age of 73.
The latest evidence shows that the emperor shunzhi became a monk.
If Shunzhi became a monk, it should be in Wutai Mountain. Why did he come to Henan?
It suddenly occurred to the staff that when they were studying the history of Baiyun Temple, they learned that the second-generation abbot Xinghang had passed away and was buried in Guoshuikeng Village in a town and county, where there were graves and tombstones of Xinghang monks. From the inscription, we can see the origin of Shunzhi and Kangxi, Hanghe and Shanghe:
According to the above records, Elder Xing Xing was not only summoned to Beijing by Kangxi for many times, but also was chartered by the emperor to enjoy royal etiquette and ostentation in Baiyun Temple.
Although it is not clear on the tombstone why Kangxi granted special permission to Baiyun Temple to enjoy the royal ceremony, nor did he say that Shunzhi was the one who woke up late, what else can make an unknown temple get such special treatment and honor besides this possibility?
Just then, another unexpected discovery brought more powerful evidence. It turned out that garden workers dug up a broken stone tablet when planting trees and digging holes in Baiyun Temple. The stone tablet was originally an imperial tablet inscribed by Emperor Kangxi himself for Baiyun Temple in the forty-ninth year of Kangxi, with four big characters written on it: "Always enjoy in the hall".
The latest evidence shows that the emperor shunzhi became a monk.
Each word has the monk's prefix "Shang", and the following words are "Tian, Tu, towel and shell".
"Dangtang" is written up and down, "Chang" is on the left and "Shang" is on the right. Maybe it can also be understood as "always a teacher".
"Tang" refers to the high hall of parents. If so, who is Gao Tang of Kangxi if not Shunzhi? And Kangxi gave this monument in forty-nine years. According to local legend, the emperor shunzhi lived to be 73 when he woke up in Baiyun Temple, and became a monk at the age of 24. By the time Kangxi was 49, it was also 73 years.
Therefore, experts concluded that this tablet, which was often given to Tang, was written to Baiyun Temple after Shunzhi's death.
One more question. It is said that Shunzhi was born in Liangqing Temple in Wutai Mountain, so how did he come to this humble little temple in Henan?
As the saying goes, "the mountain is not high, but the fairy is in the spirit." Then the key to this temple is to have a monk, and there is a monk in Baiyun Temple who studies Taoism. This monk is the living Buddha and Buddha Ding monk with the same name as Jigong monk in Lingyin Temple, Hangzhou.
South Jigong, North Tong Yuan and Central Plains each have an old Buddha, which is the three living buddhas in the history of China.
So, what is the relationship between the living Buddha and the elder the emperor shunzhi who woke up late?
According to the local chronicles of Minquan County, the Yellow River burst in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties. The flood of the Yellow River not only claimed countless lives, but also destroyed Baiyun Temple. In order to rebuild this thousand-year-old temple, good men and women in Minquan County went to Wutai Mountain in Shanxi in the 26th year of Kangxi, and asked Buddha Ding to come out of the mountain to preside over the reconstruction of Baiyun Temple. Shunzhi, who practiced in Wutai Mountain, happened to be a follower of Buddha Ding. Shunzhi admired the monk and followed him to the Central Plains.
With a monk like Fuding and a special figure like Shunzhi, Baiyun Temple has not only been rebuilt quickly, but also become a traditional name of the temple with strong incense. Since then, Buddha Ding has been the abbot of Baiyun Temple until his death, and his faithful disciple Shunzhi has been staying in Baiyun Temple. Until Kangxi died here at the age of 73 in forty-nine years.
The latest evidence shows that the emperor shunzhi became a monk.
If Shunzhi becoming a monk is a true thing in history, T.
That's a subtle arrangement for the spread and development of Buddhism in China, with a thousand miles of context and a gray line of grass snakes!
It is precisely because Shunzhi became a monk that the Manchu regime, which has no direct relationship with Buddhism, naturally became the advocate and executor of the Chinese nation to promote Buddhism.
