Since 2008, the impact of the financial crisis has swept the world. In China, employment has become an increasingly prominent and urgent problem, especially for college students. People began to think: what are the factors that affect college students' employment and career development, and how should college students prepare? Based on this, our research group, relying on the employment situation of engineering majors in Jiangsu University in recent years and on the basis of theoretical and data analysis, took Zhenjiang, Nanjing, Changzhou and Yangzhou as the survey areas, contacted 30-40 enterprises that had received engineering graduates from our school, followed up the development of engineering graduates from our school and other brother universities, communicated with relevant leaders and personnel departments of enterprises, and learned about the requirements of enterprises for their own quality and the influencing factors in their career development. At the same time, a questionnaire survey was conducted among engineering students in different colleges and grades. On this basis, this paper analyzes the gains and losses of engineering students in job hunting and career development, writes an investigation report and puts forward relevant suggestions. It provides strong support for college students to exercise and cultivate their own abilities in advance during their college years, and better promotes their career planning.

In June, another group of college students are about to leave school and start working in the society. Since 2008, affected by the financial crisis, the employment of college students has encountered unprecedented difficulties. By mid-May, the total online rate of undergraduate contract signing and postgraduate entrance examination in our school this year was only about 50%. But even under such employment pressure, there are always some outstanding people who are favored by many enterprises. What kind of ability makes them win favor and care, and what kind of quality will play a decisive role in their future career development? In order to solve this problem, this survey service team will go deep into the enterprise practice, find the answer through the career development survey of former alumni and direct communication with enterprise leaders, and convey these most authentic and reliable information to the students at school, so that they can exercise in advance, cultivate their own abilities and make their own career plans better during their college years.

Interview: interview the staff of the school employment office; Interview with the heads of 30-40 enterprises in Zhenjiang, Nanjing, Changzhou and Yangzhou; Interview the students who have already taken part in the work in our school.
Questionnaire survey: through the compilation and distribution of questionnaires, we can understand the development of talents transported by our school in enterprises; And understand the latest talent needs and requirements of enterprises.
Field trip: Field trip to 30-40 enterprises in Zhenjiang, Nanjing, Changzhou and Yangzhou.

4. Be prepared to ensure safety first. Check the prepared travel equipment every time, including clothes, medicines, summer supplies, etc. , and make adequate plans for possible security risks.

1. Theoretical analysis based on the employment data of graduates of Jiangsu University in recent years. Statistics on the employment situation, industry and regional distribution of engineering graduates in our school since 2004.

It is helpful to understand the overall development trend of employment problems today and lay a solid foundation for this social practice.
3. To contact the enterprise to carry out practical activities. By tracking the career development of previous graduates and communicating with enterprise leaders, we can understand the requirements of enterprises for the quality of engineering students and the influencing factors in career development. Combining the employment situation of different majors, we can find the crux of the low employment rate of some majors and students, and put forward corresponding improvement measures.
4. Go to the school and college office to find out the current employment situation of college students, feed back the information provided by enterprises to the relevant units of the school, and establish a bridge between enterprises and students.
5. Questionnaires were conducted among college students, mainly focusing on their job-hunting expectations and career planning, and understanding their views and psychological trends on employment issues.
6. Combined with the employment situation of Jiangsu University and the social demand for talents under the financial crisis. Invite the heads of individual enterprises to give lectures on related topics face to face with students, guide students to make career planning, and promote the spread of corporate culture in university campuses. At the same time, typical representatives of successful job-hunting in individual colleges are invited to introduce their job-hunting experience and skills to students, so as to help them choose jobs and get employment early.
7. Contact the relevant media, hoping to get the support of the media for this social practice work, so as to better publicize the views of enterprises on career choice and the requirements for contemporary college students.
