How to polish amber by hand

1, original appearance of raw materials with skins

2. Sandpaper

Waterproof sandpaper is needed to polish amber rough stone.

First, stick the hidden trouble and stubble on the amber material, which is called "protection" in the industry. The purpose is to prevent the fragile place of amber from jumping off. The glued amber rough stone can be polished after drying 10 minutes.

Step 3 start grinding-peeling

Sandpaper should be used from small meshes. The smaller the grid, the coarser the sand representing sandpaper.

The first process of raw materials is completed and polished with 240 mesh sandpaper. The difference is not 1 hour.

The purpose of using water in the grinding process is to wash away the ground powder; Secondly, it is more convenient to keep wet polishing, especially in the later polishing process. If it is too dry, the surface will be rough and it will not be easy to polish. In order to save materials, amber is generally polished to conform to the shape of the original stone, and rarely polished to a straight-edge geometry. For uneven surfaces, you can use a piece of soft cotton cloth to stack thick points, soak them and wring them out, then spread wet sandpaper on them and polish them with amber, so that they can be polished at all angles.

The main purpose of the first process is to grind off the epidermis until the epidermis is completely worn off, revealing the "meat" inside, and the finished material of the first process is thus completed.

4, grinding-shaping

After peeling, the shape of the material is basically fixed. Trim the shape with fine sandpaper and polish it again.

It takes about 10 minute to polish with 600 mesh sandpaper, and 15 minute to polish with 2000 mesh sandpaper. The material of amber can basically be seen.

5. Polishing-First polishing

Step 1 polishing: polishing paste+pure cotton cloth, about 15 minutes.

After this polishing, you can already see a crystal clear amber.

6. Polishing-the last polishing

Finally polished, polished again with polishing paste. The grinding work is all finished. Go again, in order to throw it brighter. You can clearly see the plant remains inside.

7. Punch and thread beads

If possible, you can use a mini electric drill. There are drills of various sizes, and you can drill holes of various sizes. If you don't have a mini electric drill, make one by hand, burn it red with an umbrella bone, flatten it with a hammer, and cut it into a diamond tip with scissors, and you can punch holes. After punching, put on the lanyard and you're done.
