From 1953 to 1957, eight special lines were built, including Guangzhou Xicun Power Plant, Guangzhou Cement Plant (connected to Guangzhou North Station from 1960), Guangzhou Coal Construction Company, Guangzhou Refrigerator, Guangdong Refrigerator, Guangdong Petroleum Company, Guangzhou Vegetable Company and Guangzhou Coal Company. Since then, four special lines of Guangzhou Railway Bureau (Guangzhou Car Depot, Guangzhou Wheel Factory, Machine Repair Factory of the Fifth Engineering Company and Fumin Company) have also been connected at this station.

The station has an ice-making factory and an ice-adding line for refrigerated trucks. On June 3rd 1955, the ice-making factory was completed and put into operation. The factory is equipped with three 40,000-kcal compressors, 1 ice-making pool, and six ice banks, with a daily output of ice 15 tons. 1964 added 1 230,000 kcal compressor, and the daily ice production increased to 40 tons. 1973 completed 1 ice pond, updated two 200,000 kcal compressors, 1984 updated two 2 1 10,000 kcal compressors, with a daily ice production of 70 tons. Combined with the construction of special line, the station line has also been rebuilt and expanded. 10 shares of station line at the end of 1989, including 4 shares of arrival and departure line, 4 shares of car storage line, 4 shares of cargo loading and unloading line and 0 shares of container loading and unloading line. The freight yard covers a total area of 24,000 square meters. The station handles the receiving and dispatching of trains in Guangnan, Sanyanqiao, Guangzhou and Tangxi, with an average of 40 pairs per day. Equipped with two shunting locomotives, responsible for the disintegration and grouping of Guangzhou North-Guangzhou West small freight trains, as well as the pick-up and transportation of special line operation vehicles, ice platform ice vehicles, in-station operation vehicles and locomotive vehicles. Since 1976, the station has handled 3 tons of container cargo transportation and 550 container yards. 1985 was changed to handle 5-ton containers, and 1988 was developed to handle 10 ton containers. There are 2 sets 1 6t truck cranes and 10/set16t door cranes in the freight yard. The most glorious years of Guangzhou West Railway Station are 1985 to 199 1. At that time, Guangzhou West Railway Station was the only container handling station in Guangzhou, and all container business had to be handled at the West Railway Station. 199 1 year later, the container business was transferred to guangzhou east railway station, and the business of the west station slowly declined. After the Nan 'an Road Coal Plant built a large property, the China Coal Line was also cancelled. At present, the most goods in the West Railway Station are mainly rice, coal, some frozen products and a small amount of fruit. Since 1998, it has been used as a temporary passenger station at the peak of Spring Festival travel rush to divert passengers arriving in Guangzhou after the holiday and reduce the passenger pressure at Guangzhou Station. On March 1 2004, Guangzhou West Railway Station was placed under the management of Guangdong Sanmao Railway Co., Ltd.
