Although there are a large number of DP ships in China at present, due to the late start, there is no DPO issuing agency at present, and the Maritime Safety Administration has not formulated relevant standards and systems. There are three license issuing agencies in the world: NI (British Navigation Association) and OSVDPA (USA, the authoritative organization of ocean dynamic positioning service ship). Among them, NI is the earliest institution to establish DPO training certification system, with the highest recognition in the world, and authorized training centers are also spread all over the world.

Crew members need to obtain an internationally recognized DPO certificate and go through the following procedures:

1) conducted basic course training (5-day course) in the training institution authorized by Ni, and passed the online examination; Get the log; Signed by Ni;

2) DP ship practice for 60 DP days;

3) Training simulator course (5-day course) in training institution authorized by NI, and passing practical operation and online examination;

4)60-day DP ship internship.
