Will WISCO move to Fangchenggang?

The government of Guangxi Autonomous Region signed an agreement with Wuhan Iron and Steel (Group) Company to build a 10-million-ton steel plant in Qisha, Fangchenggang.

Wuhan Iron and Steel (Group) Co., Ltd. is the first large-scale integrated iron and steel enterprise built after the founding of New China. After nearly 50 years of development, it now has the comprehensive production capacity of10 million tons of steel. In order to make better use of domestic and foreign resources, WISCO is actively looking for suitable places to build new bases along the coast. Fangchenggang, as one of the important coastal ports in China, has obvious port conditions and location advantages. In particular, the government of Guangxi Autonomous Region attaches great importance to and supports the construction of large steel mills and has done a lot of preliminary work.

The two sides indicated that they would fully cooperate with each other, pay close attention to the preliminary work of the project, and strive for the state to incorporate the Fangchenggang large-scale iron and steel plant project into the development plan of China iron and steel industry and approve the timely start of construction.
